Looks very likely that they're going to hit the ¥5,000,000 mark and the Switch physical package version goal. Currently at ¥4,595,505 with 22 days to go. That's only about $2700 USD to make up in ~3 weeks, I can't imagine they won't hit that. Has gone up 100k or so in just the last few days and these kinds of crowdfunding efforts will often see a bit of a bump at the last minute or when closing in on a major goal.

The question is whether there will be enough of a flurry of activity to hit the final goal at 6mil for PS4/PS5 port. It's within reach and not inconceivable, but certainly more of a stretch.

Goals were:
2,500,000 - port to Nintendo Switch (they hit that almost immediately, took about 3 and a half hours)
2,800,000 - "Spring Rain" OST reprint
3,000,000 - Steam port
3,500,000 - Sound enhancement (switch between original and new BGM, and a new arrange track by Super Sweep added to the soundtrack)
4,000,000 - Materials collection
5,000,000 - Nintendo Switch package version
6,000,000 - PS4/PS5 port

Pshaw! They should just open up pre-orders for the PS version and they'd make six million yen in a half-hour. I don't know why they're screwing around...

About another ¥137k in the past 8 days... Two weeks to go and ¥267k more to hit the Switch physical goal, it's slowing down but seems like they'll just get over that line with the last push.

Sorry PS4/PS5 version, doesn't look to be in the cards. At least not a commitment from the crowdfunding effort, but who knows, maybe they end up making one anyway in time.

They just hit the 5m goal, so physical Switch version is coming!

6 days remain in the Campfire crowdfunding campaign, and barring some sort of last minute miracle they aren't getting another 1m for the PS4/PS5 port goal.

I dunno, I seen plenty of these have huge rallies in the final days, either from people giving extra to help whatever goal be achieved, or from people who wait until the end so they can see if the the goals are achieved without them (the 'why give if I don't have to?' strategy. Y'know, the people who ask "who's going to leave a tip?" when you go out to eat with them)

We shall see! Felt like things slowed down a whole lot after the initial launch excitement, but crazier things have happened. If they had done a crowdfunding campaign that was easier for people outside of Japan to contribute too, that sure would have helped.

Is it possible at all?
I tried, and it just kept demanding I enter a prefecture, and since I live in a state, I was stuck.

Yeah, I was hoping to contribute (I'd definitely have backed for the exclusive EP!), but it doesn't seem like you can back it from outside Japan.

Damn they really are piling it on for the last push. 5.4mil now, 4 days left to hit 6mil. Maybe they do get this Playstation port goal.

And yeah, I also poked around trying to figure out how to back from outside of Japan, no luck. Maybe there's some sort of convoluted way to use a proxy service or something.

Two days and a smidgen over $1500 to go

I won't say 'cat's in the bag, and the bag's in the river' juuuusssst yet. But kitty is definitely at least locked in the bathroom

Edit: Okay NOW I'll say 'cat's in the bag, and the bag's in the river'. It's like at 6.2 with a day remaining. Merry Christmas!

You realize the S Series is a pretty great $250 emulation machine?
Meaning you can already play Karous until blue in the face. Translated and everything!

Wow, they smashed it. Final total was 7.5m yen. Considering they blew past the 6m Playstation port goal, I wonder if they'll also match the Switch in doing a PS4/PS5 physical release.

Excited over here, Karous is easily my favorite of the Miletone/RS34 catalog.

They'll probably use the extra money to hire another person (bringing the grand total up to seven)

PS I love how in the Radirgy 2 credits the Beep staff is like triple that of RS34's

Edit: RS34 also declares 2025 to be the year of Karous (bound to be bigger than brat summer)

They did a stream yesterday - the karous port is about 15% done and they plan to do monthly streams to show what they've done so far. There wasn't really anything that they could show this time though, and for most of the stream they were talking about other fictional works that have similar vibes to karous

The music at the very end of the stream was quite nice - worth checking out

If I get a cap size, I can airmail express a Mets cap for the next stream.

I wouldn't want them doing another in a Yankees cap. I'm sure he just wore it because it matched his hoodie. But we can take care of that too.

Know I'm late to the party here but boy oh boy am I happy to hear about work on a new Karous, and oh so very happy to see intentions that it'll get a PC release. I was kinda miffed to see that Radirgy 2 didn't get similar treatment, especially since the contemporary Playstations are just locked down x86 boxes, but they probably had their reasons. Nevertheless, I'm happy to see this development, and I'll certainly keep an eye on more updates in the future. Always nice to throw money at people who make games I like.

Because the most social media I fuck with is a rss feed, I'm real late to the party. But they did another progress report/stream which features a look of the model of your ship (not knowing the language, I'm not sure what else was discussed, and I don't really trust google translate captions. But visually, that's pretty much all you get).

The digital remix EP was emailed out today for people who backed at the digital goodies tier. It's called "spring rain dub ep: the other versions from karous", and all four remixed tracks are based on songs from the original Karous. Really, really good stuff.

There was another stream (like two weeks ago), and they ran some wip playthrough footage of the Karous port (they have audio problems for like 20 minutes, so you may just want to skip ahead)

Like Radirgy, it seems to be actually ported with new, improved graphics and whatnot, not just running an emulator.

Nu stream (actually nu this time, and not a month old)

More footage, with boss fighting this time. Background detail shots. And confirmation that Happy Together won't be delayed, as they show off the SE

It was good to see them confirming that tate display is an option in the new port of Karous (they actually jokingly referred to it as "tayt").

June 28th stream

Confirmed an ability to switch between original, and newly arranged soundtrack. Shows gameplay until it bugs out (graphically, it looks really good. Like a moving comic book -- which I understand is the whole point of cel shading -- but it truly looks that way now). Happy Together soundtrack to be released July 9th.

Karous remaster dated - it's coming out in November for Switch, PS4 and PS5 with a Steam version later. There's also an LE with an artbook and a remix EP; not sure if it's the same remix EP from backing the Campfire campaign or a new one.

Was that supposed to be announced today?

It just seems a little odd that they'd be "trailer dropping next week! But here's all the info today so you don't have to watch it"

So RS34's doing the physical themselves, but I'm a bit surprised they pushed for a PS4 and PS5 release day 1 (I do hope they can consider Switch 2 ports if they'd benefit), since you'd think they'd only have the resources and funds to do a Switch port first. Are they not like barely 10 people big? Also surprising is that Karous 1's getting a standalone physical, like I'd thought it'd be digital-only and then maybe bundled with Karous 2 when that's finally done ala Radirgy 2 including Radirgy 1.

Obviously it'll take a billion, jillion years at this point, but I'd still love an HD modern "Milestone Shooting Collection 2" for Switch that has all 5 NAOMI games (Radirgy, Chaos Field, Karous, Radirgy NOA, Illvelo), but eh, who knows. I recall their 360 Sakura Flamingo Archives collection being the same... but poorly done? Was Sakura Flamingo their name under Klon? Did we ever find out about how they even ended up at Klon and what made them leave to form RS34?

How did Radirdy 1 and 2 turn out on Switch? I know it's had a few patches, but it's hopefully as perfect as it'd ever be, right?

I'm still pissed MSC2 never got localized on Wii, UFO canned Illvelo Wii I assumed because they were just moving to do that alongside Radirgy NOA, but then bam, they just gave up cold turkey with nothing to show. :'(

At least I found a sealed copy of Ultimate Shooting Collection at my local EB Games in Canada like a decade ago, and it still is sealed in my little collection. Ah, novelties. :P

The physical release was a stretch goal for their Campfire campaign, which they ended up meeting. So were the PS4/PS5 ports, but I'm surprised they're coming out alongside the Switch version! I do hear Switch 2 devkits are pretty competitive right now, so a bunch of smaller devs can't get their hands on them. Maybe later.

Yeah I'd love that too... probably takes more resources than they have right now though.

Yeah, "Sakura Flamingo Laboratory" was the name of the little team inside Klon of the ex-Milestone people. RS34 got formed because Klon went under in 2016 and the RS34 team were able to snap up the Milestone rights.

They're fantastic, honestly. Radirgy 2 plays great; no performance problems at all. I hear the PS4/PS5 versions run slightly better, and have faster loading times, but I genuinely didn't notice much and I put a ton of time into the Switch version.
