Quick question on GBS Control PAL compatibility

Post by asprinwizard »

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I am using the GBS control and I'm finding that no matter what I do, the output is always 60HZ. I am using PAL equipment and was lead to believe the GBS control would keep the output frequency if the upscale 50 to 60 HZ option was not enabled. To confirm it is not enabled.

I am finding that when I have a 576p@50 component input, the monitor reads this as 50HZ but when I pass it through the GBS control it shows as 60HZ. Is there an option I am missing here. Also if I want to downscale this to 240p I believe I need to change the output to 480p, is that right? 576p won't work? I only have a 480p@60 option so that will downscale to 60HZ too I guess. Is there a way for the GBS control to output 240p@50? The CRT monitor I wish to use only accepts PAL input (50HZ). Otherwise I will have to use my fallback the GBS-8100.

Thanks for your help. I've tried asking AI about this and it seems there is a ton of misinformation regarding the GBS control. One thing it claimed was that the downscaler would work with the RGBHV inputs. I believe this is wrong and certainly mine doesn't seem to but would appreciate clarification from actual human beings on this.

Cheers.
