This has got to be the most insane Blue Revolver run I have ever seen @_@"...

Massive giga congrats on this hard work!

I didn't play DA a lot as I got into BR quite late (mid 2024) and I settled with my 1.12 Parallel PB only 1-2 months before DA released so I was fatigued by then.

But wow never imagined Stasis Field to be used to get such a high score and what a great replay that was to watch!~

Definitely a lot of memorable parts like just collecting bullets from the shoulder of the Stage 3 mid boss before throwing it back haha.

And I thought I was ok with my 1.52 Hyper Val Laser X_X!~

Again, big congrats and super many thanks for sharing this ride with us. Really enjoyed it!

This seems like a super skill-heavy & routing-heavy weapon though!~

Thank you! DA changes alot in the original package its like a different game. And I say that as someone who never played the original lol.

Glad you enjoyed the replay. The grind for stasis field started when I was messing around with it to get the clear and 90m score medals for it. Got around 140 million and noticed that I have the best stasis field score on the leaderboard. Especially since I noticed that the weapon itself had much much more potential. I even found Jermanators shmup slam 6 run and watched how stasis field worked before so I thought of carrying the torch and showing off that this weapon just like Jermanator hinted at is crazy good. whether I can show that potential or not depended on a lot of routing especially with rank management since this weapon depends on the bullets. At first I thought that it might be one of the best scoring weapons in parallel. But then I labbed it out on hyper. What I found was absurd and crazy strats you see in this replay. If you look at past replays like the 185m and the 193m the strats from there are improved and carried over to the 205m in addition of much more. Like solving stage 3 midboss(My pace before stage 3 boss went from 51 million to about 60 million lmao) and figuring out the best positions to release from in stage 4. It feels really good to be right on point about something. Especially since this game's scoring is unoptimized for most weapons and thats sad. As for your assumption that this is very hard to use. Yes. In my honest opinion I think its probably among the hardest 3 weapons for scoring. Val Cluster missile and mae hyper laser are among the hardest too.

Ah yes those silly medals in BRDA @_@"...

When I saw those I decided to leave Blue Revolver as my only Steam STG without 100% Achievements (only missing "The World").

It felt like such an unnecessary grind to have to Parallel Clear the game with every single weapon... some of which I really do not like using a lot and feel makes Parallel even harder than it should be.

When I got back into STG and first played Blue Revolver, I used Mae Laser for my Normal 1CC lol. Looking back that was a bit silly, but obviously in Normal it is still ok. I did like Val Cluster Missile a lot, and I believe I did clear that with Hyper, but as you said, scoring with Cluster Missile is very hard. I believe 1.12 WR was Val Cluster Missile?

My go-to has always been Val Laser for my 1.12 Parallel 1CC and scoring, just super satisfying to use and the focused laser did help a lot with certain boss phases.

I think the medals are a great way to encourage scoring and improvement in skill. the parallel medals may be too far but imagine: Only a few people get this achievement. Thats why I think its cool that danbo implemented this. Actual overall mastery over the game.

Also yes Kiwi got the WR at 191m during the original. iirc it was on parallel mode.

Double Action - Hyper Mode
birb - 210,114,900 - ALL Clear - Val Stasis Field 1.52
mistakes:
  • Missed stage 3 boss phase 4 break(1 million).
  • Died at the end of stage 4 and missed some gold.
  • Missed out on a few perfect bonuses. Mainly the last 3 patterns during final boss.
Sadly I won't be available for a month and a half. Gonna have to travel. But I got a really great score with a defensive weapon. Seriously it's absurd that I found lots of things that this weapon can do. I made a scoring tierlist already but I will have to redo it and see if it holds up after all weapons become optimized. Here is my only prediction that is 99% gonna hold up: Gun buckler will never hit 200 million. I'll try to update my strategy thread with more stuff. Please do leave suggestions there!

Yes. Very high scoring potential. More so than I expected. I added captions to the video for more details. But if this run didn't have mistakes this would've easily become 2nd place on the hyper leaderboard. But to be fair. The top 4 scorers haven't optimized their respective weapon yet imo. Specifically I think Van_Artic can take number 1 any time because of how absurdly amazing Val hyper laser is. But I'm honestly content with this score. Definitely can do better. But I think Jermanator will do the rest. As for my other Blue Revolver goals. I might make a strategy thread explaining how each weapon works and some hidden tech unless someone made one. In addition I will make a video on how each weapon works and put them in an alignment chart. Already have a script that I'm slowly tinkering with. But eventually I will record footage for all the weapons during a stream or sumthin. Maybe a Blue Revolver iron man? who knows. Other than that I haven't cleared parallel yet! My weapon of choice was mae laser for the longest time(cuz mae is bae) but I will see. Maybe will find something else to use. But man I love my narrow shots what can I say?

My speculations were correct. This weapon has high scoring potential but I didn't expect it to be this high. If you watch the replay you will notice that I miss out on some scoring opportunities and sometimes improvise to get the best score possible during some sections I messed up at. I am quite sure this weapon can get to 200 million.

I'd like to explain why I think stasis field is so powerful for scoring and not only survival. It's under the category of a defensive weapon but don't let that fool you. It acts very similarly to Mars Matrix Mosquito ability. Where you gather bullets shot by enemies and then fling them back. This weapon puts up a blue circular field in front of your ship. Any bullet that enters it slows down. When released it will shoot back blue bullets at the opposite direction you are moving and the amount depends on how many bullets you have in the field. Keep in mind that the bullets can indeed leave the field. It's perk is it reduces the extend milestone by 10%. Meaning the first extend for stasis field is 4.5 million. I will list why this weapon is so goddamn strong for scoring:
  • Destructive power that has almost full screen coverage with enough bullets.
  • The blue bullets direction can be changed mid release. Meaning you can release the bullets upwards then quickly move so you can shoot them say maybe to the right. So your input would be down, down-left, left. As if it's a fighting game input.
  • Since the release spreads out. This weapon isn't only amazing at zero flourish. But also can score BEYOND zero flourish in some situations.
  • The perk might seem like it helps survival-wise. But it actually helps in scoring too! It gives you more chances to suicide and restock on bombs for hyper mode.
It goes without saying. When using this weapon in hyper mode. Rank management is a must for consistency. I actually had to learn how rank change works in this game. Basically. The more you die within a stage. the less the rank decreases and eventually suiciding stops decreasing rank. So the first death in a stage decreases rank the most. at least by 2 levels. So It's always favorable to stay rank level 4 or above before your first suicide within a stage. Yeah also stage 1 is annoying because rank level 2 can be a bit rng when enemy ships start shooting

Double Action - Hyper Mode
birb - 218,581,000 - ALL Clear - Val Stasis Field 1.52 World Record!
Image

https://youtu.be/AJjKwwgd9xY I will add captions soon.

This is my first world record in a shmup! Lots of dedication and grinding. My goal went from getting past 200 million to then realizing that this weapon is absurdly busted in the right hands. So I worked for the world record after getting a 210 million score and thankfully it paid off. I would like to shout out Jermanator once again for inspiring me to confirm the potentials of this weapon even if indirectly, and also those who supported and encouraged me. The potential it had exceeded my expectations and I will thoroughly explain and re-explain why Stasis Field is a strong contender for best scoring weapon in the game.

Stasis Field in vacuum is pretty much mars matrix's mosquito. Absorb bullets and then fling them back. But the field is a bit different... It opens a field, absorbs the kinetic energy of the bullets and then releases that energy in a spread. The amount you store is indicated by the shaking of the middle part of the field. It shakes violently when you have stored a ton of energy. This is why on higher ranks, the absorption is much faster. Therefore Stasis Field benefits from higher rank levels. But even then... If you watch how I play stage 1. I do what I would call an "empty release". Despite not storing energy it will still shoot 1 energy ball. The energy released by the field not only does decent damage that it can destroy medium sized ships with one shot but also they pierce. This is why it has one of the best zero flourishes in the game alongside Val's Hyper Laser. In addition, you can change the direction of the release dynamically. It's a bit niche but I actually make use of it in my world record. Alongside a few route changes and risk taking the main breakthrough I found about this weapon, is that the energy you shoot doesn't ruin your pattern bonus during boss fights. As long as the field doesn't touch the boss. Your bonus remains perfect(2x). But of course I have to mention that there is a small window when the pattern initiates where you don't get penalized for using weapon/bomb. This changed everything. Despite how tough stage 1 is for Stasis Field. Later on it just pays off. I think the only weaknesses it has is ammo usage and rank dependance. Now, put that weapon in parallel... Rank dependance as a weakness is gone. I think that Stasis Field can also take the Parallel world record with enough dedication. Not to mention that it's perk which gives you earlier extends, also affects the bomb extends in parallel. Insane. When and how I will do it I'll see. For now I will be performing a mae cluster missile run in shmuptember. Another weapon I see high potential in. I recently almost scored 200 million with it but game over'd at the final boss sadly(its no. 1 on mae cluster leaderboard). But yeah I find mae cluster more fun to use than stasis field. And I might actually use mae cluster for parallel who knows. The weapon's perk actually saves you quite a lot of bombs. I already found 2-3 bomb saves in stages 1 and 2.
