Cleared Psychic 5 with all the secret/magical bonuses. Probably the best nmk game pre thunder dragon 2; its crazy how much depth there is to getting the bonuses/ food sets in the correct order while managing hammer swing counts.

Stunning result, Maximo. May I use the video as a reference in my squib for the game? The current video is a placeholder, frankly.

Being an inveterate TIME GAL lover, I got the recent "HD*" re-release that just came out on Steam (after being on consoles for a while). I don't have as much desire for Ninja Hayate (who wants to control some goofy quasi Zenigata-looking ninja when you can watch the lovely Reika?) so I skipped on that one, for now.

Surprisingly I managed to snag the 1cc after only a few hours of play, which is funny because I really struggled with the Saturn port I had back in the day. I think because this new port has a practice feature that lets you play any individual "stage" which meant I could quickly memorize the inputs.

After a few 1cc's I decided to take it up a notch and get the steam achievement "Time Master" which was to 1cc the game on the hardest difficulty - this removes all the arrows and button prompts! A true test of reflexes... and pure memorization!

Anyway, I did a run that was only one-miss, but decided that something was missing. Half the fun is watching all the silly and (titillating?) scenes of Time Gal's chibi for being manhandled, so I recorded a new 1cc on the hardest difficulty with a bunch of deaths to show some of my favorite fail scenes! Yes, I am crazy! And yes, that clip of the asshole dude laughing at you ultimately is the funniest thing in the game.

Time Gal, Hardest Difficulty 1CC Anime Theater!

*It's not really HD, much to my chagrin. Just a kind of hacky-uprez to 720p... Nonetheless it's the best the game has looked since the laserdisc original, despite a few scenes looking pretty lousy quality-wise.

Haha, this is quality entertainment.

I remember spending a weekend with a Sega/Mega CD rental disc. I think I had a 1cc on VHS from those sessions.

Messing around with Elevator Action Returns S-Tribute tonight and got another very hard no death clear with Edie and a personal best score of 400,300. I was just playing for survival, but I guess playing for score in EAR is milking kills until you’re forced to move on.

Never played it myself, but I'm glad you weren't too harsh on yourself for taking a few hits - you were stylish when you needed to be, and some of those multi-kills were utterly clinical.
Very enjoyable watch!

Thanks, and glad you enjoyed. Yeah I can’t be bothered with no-damage runs. I don’t have the reflexes or skill for that. No-death runs already take a lot of planning and execution. It’s not a particularly difficult game, but there are a few points that are almost determined by luck with RNG spawns and eaten inputs.

I’m working on a deathless Kart run. He’s probably the more difficult character to use. His sprite sticks up a bit when he fires from crouching (he can be hit by a low shot when he should be safe) and his bombs require timing to be effective. Lots of ammo conservation by melee and alternating bomb and rocket launcher use. He’s cool as fuck though. Just striding around with one hand in a pocket, taunting enemies.

Is a Super Scaler a SHMUP? Are Afterburner and Starfox SHMUPs? Is Rogue Flight? I don’t know. I’ll just post this here.

Here’s my new game no death extreme difficulty Alpha route clear of Rogue Flight. I used upgrades as I unlocked them, but this is a fresh save, starting out with nothing.

This is the on-disc version 1.0, which is slightly different than the patched game. Some enemies are more aggressive and some bosses are changed. I think the way the player regains health through combos was also changed.

The game can be rather challenging up to stage 4, with the 4th boss being a monumental pain in the ass in its last phase. Things are more manageable in the later half of the game with some upgrades unlocked. The last boss is a bit of a pushover.
