It's been a while since I saw it, but I recall thinking that surely no one could be that deluded, and that perhaps some force within was subjecting him to a kind of penance, making him ritually put his life in the hands of the gods (poised, throat exposed, between the Claws of Damocles). I'm sure he alludes more than once to his crazy mixed up past with drugs and alcohol, so who knows how bad things got, and how badly he needed to atone?

But on the flipside, the one spanner in the works of the atonement theory is the fact he put his girlfriend in that situation. Why did he do that! This pretty much nullifies any empathy I might otherwise have had for the bloke and reduces the case to a tragedy involving a severely mentally unwell man (so destructively unwell that empathy fails to connect), and his impressionable partner, neither of who deserved death.
Yeah, I come away similarly conflicted. I think he was a gravely unbalanced individual who'd found his refuge from a cruel world; and better yet, one where he could play benefactor. To that extent, I think most can sympathise, even without condoning. If he'd gotten into obscure videogames or films, instead, I'm sure he'd be happily posting away right now.

But then there's the cost, most damningly to his poor bird ofc, but also to the ecosystem he'd appointed himself saviour. At that point, I'm forced to wonder how much of his prior self-destruction was self-driven. I think the doc's most complete image of Treadwell is his splenetic venting at specific - and, I suspect, long suffering - park personnel, those he'd deemed out to sabotage him.

(I'm picturing a pristine blue Alaskan sky, and a National Parks aircraft skywriting "TIM FUCK OFF")

He needed sectioning, really. :/ A scenario which might've resulted in a comparably crazy, but perhaps less fatal ending to the story. (nuts as he was, Tim doesn't strike me as the "homicidal last stand at the Super 8" sort; more "tackled by mallcops while streaking through the airport") I wonder if he could've been tutored in some way, so his next school visit / late night TV spot might've been tempered by some genuine insight. But then I wonder if he'd consider the notion an affront, given his quasi-shamanism. And also, if the relevant professionals would entertain him in the first place.

Alternate strategy for Phase 2: Bring 1pc PAPER (size A4 or greater). Place it on the floor. Stand upon it.

Then, declare yourself captain of an independent maritime vessel - the aforementioned sheet of paper, legally classifiable by way of derivation from wooden materials - thus exempting yourself from any landlubber edge-cases, and establishing considerable standing in the process.

(I'm only half-shitposting here; this secret strat was handed to me a while back - just in case - by a particularly conspiratorial relative )

I bought the Streets of Rage 2 vinyl record the other day and gave it a spin. The run off groove is a loop of Axel yelling "Grand Upper" repeatedly. Got a good chuckle outta me.

Sony is apparently planning a rewind button as a standard feature.

No talent required, apparently.

Diet soda. I can't really have sugar, and I love soda, so I'm very happy that diet soda exists. Especially Diet Canada Dry and Diet Coke.

Sorry if this seems like a small thing, but it doesn't feel that way to me lol.

Here's another one I rescued before the mods got it. I'm sure it's not real or anything but good effort.

I found this out. From my Scottish relatives, directly from the heraldic archive.
Apparently from my maternal grandmother's side.
I know that they then joined another house of which we have not found the banner or documents, then the last descendant lost everything to follow her beloved, who was not a noble, and accepted to lose the titles.

Scottish family of which we remember a John, who was a general in Prussia.
He had four sons; Francis, Bernard, Henry and William, who were all barons. Poets and men of letters. They were born in Frankfurt on the Oder, and showed the same idea as his father.
They were several times in Italy and a branch went to settle in Bari, where a Vincenzo emerged, 1715, he was a jurist and professor at the University of Naples.

I had never heard of this until today, but apparently back in the 90's Bogota, Colombia temporarily replaced a bunch of its traffic cops with mimes who would do happy performances for those who followed the rules and silently scold those who didn't; traffic violence dropped by half and other countries have conducted similar experiments since. Humanity definitely needs more of this kind of approach.

Unless mimes make you want to commit horrible acts of violence.

Presumably most of said acts would be directed at said mimes instead of one's fellow commuters, so different route, same result!

Weirdest pseudo-nostalgia with that one! I remember it being on Napster/FTP, and assuming it was a Chrono Cross AST of some sort ala... actually, WTF album am I even thinking of? Ah jeeze. :o EDIT: Aha! CREID.

...fifth entry in their index, huh. Was very popular back on GamingForce Audio. I remember GFA as a fractious but sincere bunch. It's nice to see so many old names at VGMdb. Which IIRC is what their community became, after nefarious admin BOBO ran off with the *ahem* server donations.

It made me smile, even! (*'ω' *)

I was drinking tea in the garden this afternoon, the birds are chirping, there is a spring air and it is sunny... when suddenly from one of the neighbors' houses starts THIS. I was struck by a strange feeling of relaxation and confusion.
