Weirdly, I was more jazzed for this than Under Defeat. Just because I own/have played UD, but never had an jp 360.

So it's good to see that evidently UD sold well enough that they're moving forward.

I only played the original version of this on the 360, and it was pretty busted. I’ve always been curious to see how the update changed things as I love a good walk-em-up.

I love this game so much. I've played the PS3 version a ton; really looking forward to having this more readily available again so I can get people to try it.

Man...ReCurse is right, lol. But yeah, other than just being more/less like the PS3 version with everything included and then some. (Offering new twin stick controlls.)

Hopefully one step closer to a modern Border Down port similar to how they handled this and Under Defeat.

I'll be keeping an eye on this, I played the 360 port quite a bit back then.

Ha! You beat me to saying it. Still interested in this new release of Mamorukun, but darn if it doesn't feel like we're gonna see a new G.Rev IP at this rate before they do a modern release of Border Down. Do they feel like it's not as commercially viable? I know it's a bit less approachable compared to some of their other stuff but I feel like it holds up decently well nowadays.

PS3 version plays well enough on my actual PS3, desktop PC, and Deck, but I'd still rebuy a Steam release if it was done well.

I feel like the odds on that are rather low.

Announcement today from Clear River Games - it's coming out here on consoles and Steam September 25, the same day as the Japanese releases. https://www.gematsu.com/2025/07/mamoruk ... n-the-west

I didn't really expect that, given how much of a delay there's been to bring some of their other games over. Grateful though!

Friendly Reminder Dept (because I'm so friendly, like Rachel and Ross): This comes out today

I'm actually kinda of jazzed, as I never played it, and I remember when Sisters Royale came out lots of people were all "meh... Just play Mamorukun instead"

Anyway, Sisters Royale ruled, so I'm expecting big things.

Yes, it's available on Steam today, 9/25/2025, with a slight discount if purchased before the deadline.

Funny that people would say that about Sisters Royale, since to me it always felt like another Shikigami game more than anything else (I also liked SR and the Shikigami games).

That said, Mamorukun IS in fact pure kino, probably the most fun "new" shmup release since Cotton RnR or Gunvein.

It's $24.99 USD on the eshop, with a little 10% off bonus for the launch making it $22.49 USD presently. Steep enough that I'm gonna hold out and see if we get a physical like Under Defeat.

Had a chance to get in a half hour before bed last night, and this game rules as much as ever. Really excited for more people to get to try. I'm surprised we haven't seen that many more takes on a walking shooter like this - I feel like Pocky & Rocky Reshrined and Elfazar's Hat are the only recent games in the same space I can think of.

Heads up that if your controller/stick isn't working in the Steam version, force Steam Input to be on and it should fix it.

Clear River are publishing one in Europe, like with the past few CC ports. I can't tell if it's out yet, but it's coming. https://shop.clearrivergames.com/collec ... un-recurse (Of course, if $22.50 was too much for you, is $35 for a physical a better deal...? I think this game's worth $20, but that's up to you.)

It's definitely worth $20 or $30, but I do want a physical so if that's on the way (or maybe even out) I'll wait. I have the original 360 version, but I'd love to get this. Love me a good walk-em-up. Gun.Smoke, Twinkle Tale, Elemental Master, Undeadline, etc. I also wish we got more of them.

I tried it out for the first time yesterday - feels quite fun
There was an issue at launch where no graphics displayed for AMD and intel graphics but they patched it and it works on my laptop now

Yeah, this game rules.

I'm been playing non-twin stick to get the "pure" experience but still haven't totally got the hang of things (I seem to always end up pointing the wrong direction), so I'm cheeseing and using the honing shot girl, as she auto corrects my ineptitude (I also keep forgetting it's better to curse oneself against big enemies. As my brain is sort of wired to "hit 'em with my big gun")

But it's real fast paced and doesn't waste anytime throwing giant pink robots and all kinds of crazy shit at you (and I guess the Sisters comparison is coming from the 3D graphics, that you lock direction when firing, and it's wide variety of nutty monsters)

Any mention of what Pixel and Konami are doing? Pixel are partnered with Konami at TGS for some reason, but nothing announced yet.

Wow! That's a surprise. I guess g.rev's "we only do vendor work from here on out" period is over.

(although the "where's the Border Down port???" people are going to be grumpy)

Great to have this finally released, used to play the PS3 version UFO Interactive put out in the west, back when obtaining a JP copy was absurdly expensive (still is!).

New port seems great and probably by the same team at ZeroDiv behind Under Defeat's recent conversion.

Have a quick question though, I have the European release published by Clear River Games...is it me or did they implement separate leaderboards for this title? I was hoping for them to be merged with the Japanese release...was this also true for Under Defeat? I picked up the City Connection version of that on a trip to Japan.

Do you mean these people?

I find them kinda weird. Like I get what they're going for, and that vibe appeals to me (like weab/retro/arcady), but at its core most of their games are not that amazing in the end (good example is Horgihugh and Friends or also Xiaomei and the Flame Dragon’s Fist - regardless of whether they merely published or also developed these two games).

To be fair though I haven't played XELANFORCE yet.

MOD EDIT: Sorry, hit the "edit" button instead of "quote", couldn't recover the links..

i saw this in a video. the character is shooting backwards.

does anyone know how to get the character to shoot backwards?

nothing i have tried works. in the video it's mentioned they are using twin stick setup. i have tried both twin stick and original shot setup and neither allows the character to shoot backwards

Got my copy finally and it feels like absolute cheating to play with this option (and a lot of fun). I would hope they're separating out leaderboards (or locking out players with this turned on) but I doubt that's happening.
