I received yesterday a DSC 301HD Extron for downscaling image (i need to connect a pc with a 720p output to a Loewe CRT with a VGA module installed.
It is working so great for now, i need to test further but i needed a scaler with 59.94 and 60hz exactly matching refresh rate and is perfect. Output needs to be 480p 16:9.

IFirst of all i tried to update firmware from version 1.17. Installed the software and the firmware (thanks to this forum!!!!) and the procedure went well, at least i guess because at the end of the procedure it said "update failed" but when i reconnect it to the pc it was ok and while i connected to the source it is working flawlessly with 1.26 right firmware.
I would like to as if someone can help me find the software to manage edid for custom resolution injecting in it. Would like to inject 1080i29.97.

The PCS software that works with the DSC is available online if you look around.

You actually don't need the EDID Manager software. You can create an EDID using CRU and dial in the timings.

I downloaded a version of edid manager (version like 1.0) but really can't understand it...seems i can't create any kind of custom res to inject into the scaler.
I need a custom res not on the pc of course but the output resolution that goes from scaler to tv

The answer is there. You don't need the EDID manager software, just use CRU instead to create an EDID.bin file to your specifications.

You do need the Extron PCS software and a mini USB type B cable. The latest version (4.7.1) that doesn't require a login works fine. Use PCS to load your custom EDID onto a preset and go from there.

I heard you and i think i manage to reach some point. I loaded ad edid bin file and now in PCS i can see actually the edid 852x480 i created on the edid list. The problem is, how can i upload practically to the scaler for the output? as i understood there are 3 presets (the c1-2-3) where i can upload some custom res. But actually i can't understand how. In the listing of the edid i can see the 852 res in blue, i suppose i need to pass it on the yellow one...? which are the custom one. If i understood correctly of course.

ahhh i got it! i did i!
Now the only problem is actually that incredibly the loewe doesn't sync exactly and properly the resoluion..i mean my dsc 301 has already a 852x480p resolution which is perfect.
IOn the other scaler (a DSC HD-HD) there is no 852x480p res so i put it as custom res.. CRU i tried all settings like exact CRT, GTF ecc but nowone is good for the loewe. If i select that res image is all on the right and deformed. That is so weird because on the standard preset which is already inside he 301 HD the tv sync absoutely perfectly!
What is my error in your opinio? Strange CRU tells me that scan is 30.000khz, shouldn't be 33.500 khz for that res? Am i mistaken?

In the meanwhile i tried to put 1440i (2056x1440i 30hz 4:3) and 1080i (1440x1080i@30hz 4:3) and seem is working...i say seem because my lcd monitor sync those (and they're for sure interlaced) but i have to see on my crts monitors i love he interlaced resolutions in crt monitors but on pc you can't because no gpu utput anymore interlaced res since years (don't tell me vga passthrough is a pain in the ass).

I think it is such an amazing feature this!!!

I can't find the custom output resolution box either in my edid minder section of the extron pcs software how did you get it to appear?
