Audio Authority 9A62 Power Supply Type / Picture

Post by M3Patterns »

Can anyone that has the Audio Authority 9A62 post a picture of the power supply or at least list the specs?

The specs are not in the manual or on the transcoder itself.

See below. Its most likely 12V with negative center pin polarity. At least thats what the 9A60 is, and I would expect the 9A62 to be the same. You're welcome!

Hmmm, I wouldn't bank on that.

I just checked my 9A65, it is 12v with center positive.

OP, you can ask the guy I sold my old 9A62 to back in 2012. Looks like he's averaged about 1 post every 3 years though, lol.

My 9A65 also uses a 12v center positive. A
571-013.

The Google results for for 9A62 PSU come back with some generic PSU listings that also claim compatability with the 9A60, so that's the direction I'd go as recommended by Josh128.

The good thing is, AA products are usually overbuilt and you can use this to find the answer without guessing. When I opened my 9A60, there is a diode straight off the center pin PSU connection to prevent damage from a wrong (positive) polarity power supply voltage being plugged in. The direction that diode is facing will be your answer. If the cathode stripe is facing the PSU connection, you need a negative center pin polarity, if its facing the other way, you need a positive center pin PSU.

Thanks Josh!

I can confirm that the 9A62 works with a negative center pin. It does not use the 571-013 power supply, but appears to use the 805-027 power supply, which is the same one that the 9A60 came with: https://www.cs1.net/products/audio_auth ... 05-027.htm .

I can also confirm that the 9A62 was not fried by using the wrong polarity pin. Two separate sellers sent me a center positive power supply (again, the wrong polarity) for two separate units, and both units appear to be unharmed and working normally after having been plugged in to the wrong adapters.

I just love that Audio Authority still has the webpage up for a power supply they made 25 years ago.

Nice!! Happy to hear you got it working. The 9A62 unit mostly like has DC input polarity protection in the form of the same diode I mentioned above that is present in the 9A60. Im a huge fan of AA equipment, everything Ive ever used made by them looked to me to have top notch engineering and build quality.
