Warning Forever is pretty simple you can focus your attack in a wide or small area and you fight a boss that get's harder and harder every time and it desighns itself to beat you so if you focus on the front he builds defenses on the front or if you focus on the back he builds on the back.

no one ever mentions Galax.
anyway, it's a very well done shmup. the graphics are top notch in my opinion. but it's the gameplay that I like best.
It's hard to explain, but there's an enemy control system your ship can use. this is done by pressing C and then inputing a key combination. each also have colors for each as a way to tell on color code switches as to what you need to do. the three options are
1.)(yellow)Freeze- stops enemies from doing pretty much anything, as well as making them take more damage from shots. most used one next to Controller. key combination: Z,X,C
2.)(red/purple) Destruct- self explanatory. causes enemies to self destruct. some enemies take a little time to blow up from it. doesn't work on some enemies, and on none of the bosses. key combination: Z,Z,X,C
3.)(blue) Controller- a nifty one that gives you control over enemies and their shots for awhile. large enemies destroyed by controlled enemies or shots give technical bonuses. one boss requires use of Controller to defeat it. key combination: up,down,Z,X,C
you honestly have to use these once you get past the first stage, otherwise it becomes impossible to play. a few areas even have color locks on the doors that you have to unlock or shut off by inputting the correct control option. But after awhile you get used to it.
anyway, link to it: http://www003.upp.so-net.ne.jp/masaHG/conts.htm

Chourensha looks awesome but my computer freezes up in the first 10 seconds for some reason
Can anyone recommend similar "older" freeware shooters? I don't have any of the pixel shader programs and my graphics card/setup is pretty old and shitty. Just lookin for something that has good gameplay without the shiny graphics so my comp can run it..
