I’ve had my KV-27S42 for a couple years now and something about it has always bothered me. The screen looks great and seems to have a lot of life in it (I have to turn down the contrast to about 70%), but I get this annoying ghosting/streaking whenever a bright object is surrounded by a darker background.
This set is unmodded, but I have recapped the power board, neck board, and power/deflection areas on the main board. I found a couple bad caps in the high voltage circuit but that’s about it. The ghosting/streaking issue existed before I recapped it.
I’ve spoken to 6tanks over at the crtdatabase and he says all the BA-4D trinitrons he’s seen exhibit this behavior.
Do you have this issue? Did you find any fix for it? I can’t believe Sony would ship a TV with this obvious a problem on such an otherwise nice tv.
Also, has anyone else noticed scrolling hum bars on the bottom left of the screen? Seems to affect many S42s.
