Isn't this some kind of mediocre game known mostly for the porn (wonder what they're going to do about that for this release, for that matter) and not because the gameplay is anything special?

Not to be confused with M-KAI's Pleasure Hearts, in any case.

IIRC the beefy hogs were PC exclusive, with the PCE and Saturn versions progressively more censored. Disappointment will abound! :/

Every version of Steam Hearts (PC98, PCE, Saturn) are completely different games with the same story. Only the 98 (and the bizzare Win95 "Perfect Collection) have all the money shots. PCE and Saturn story scenes are almost identical, but PCE has one nipple while Saturn has none.

Gameplay wise, PC98 is a very "PC98 shooter", meaning ok for the platform, but that doesnt mean much. PCE is a fairly standard shooter for its time.

Saturn is a full remake and honestly its a mess of very weird subweapons. But, it is quite fun to just blast through from time to time.

^ Great info as always, thanks! I did wonder if I'd mentally filed the PCE+SS versions away with Divine Sealing too quickly. But it was like 25yrs ago, and a little hog goes a long way. As does a big one, I suppose. :o

The next time someone complains about how games are having their "artistic integrity" suppressed, I'm going to point directly to this and ask "How many timeless genre classics trapped on legacy platforms did Steam Heart's (do NOT forget the apostrophe!) have to leapfrog for this release to happen?" :P

City Connection's Saturn emulator package might have its fair share of haters, but this is a truly bizarre use for it. Of all the Saturn games they could package up, they went with one whose plot sounds like an incel manifesto.

I assume the fighting game it's paired with is similarly questionable?

Got a Satiator recently and I'm trying out some shmups I don't have physical copies of.

Let's just say I'm glad I didn't shell out for Steam Hearts.

The PC Engine Super CD-Rom2 based Steam Hearts stg is presented as a high-res game running at 512 x 224.

Seconded. Advanced Variable Geo 2 is excellent, which is pretty surprising considering the mediocrity of the previous game. But the sequel is PS1 only, so obviously out of the question for Saturn Tribute releases. AVG1 made it to PCE-CD first, then a substantially improved version on Saturn and PSX (ports are extremely similar).

Weird combo with Steam Hearts, but maybe there's a bit of an ecchi/hentai theme going on here. The original (non-Advanced?) Variable Geo on PC98 is a straight up hentai game, and so is its PC98 sequel, Variable Geo 2. The console AVG games drop the explicit stuff, but still have plenty of nods in that direction (pantsu galore).

The theme going on is TGL. They've also announced the two Farland Sagas by them.

Clearly they visited the farm while Dick Stock was bumped near the top.

Huh, so this is what shmup players want...

I find these releases kind of surprising, as Giga was officially shut-down by it's parent company in 2023 in order to move away from adult games.

Giga's later games are absolute gold. BaldrSky English version is still for sale on Steam/GOG and it is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended.

I don't think the Saturn games are considered adult games, but Entergram are just licensing them out as old TGL titles.

That's what I was most interested in as well. When I went to check who made this I was like WTF Giga? Unexpected.

Yeah, I know I still need to get Baldr Masterpiece Chronicle, but I've been saving as much money as possible so I can give it to Innocent Grey in like a day. I can't think of many ultra-tiny game companies that have art gallery events because their CEO is more good enough at drawing to be able to justify doing them and will also let you buy that exact same artwork, which is probably of sufficient quality to be displayed in museums, but Innocent Grey is definitely one of them.

I found out about him through the boating set; someone pulled his channel up one night, had the whole marina howling. Was about his luggage collection IIRC, which he was flogging on his front lawn to cover his latest divorce - everyone knew this was a true man of luxury.
I got everything! Everything I wanted!

Archie definitely wouldn't approve of CC's Zebra emulation antics, in fact I'm pretty sure he'd call them all sorts of terrible things before firing up his Saturn for a randy old fap to The Throbbing Nightmare. The man would not settle for inferior craftsmanship! Certainly more of an M2 guy.
