LKK GAME, developer of GanaBlade, has a new shmup slated for release on Steam by years end. For players whom enjoy Ikaruga, Red Blue Cell also features gameplay elements centered around a polarity system. For those that do not enjoy Ikaruga, there will be game mode that removes polarity.

Features:

- 4 modes (Normal, Hard, Retro, and Boss Rush)
- Online leaderboards for each game mode
- Full Keyboard and Joystick remapping
- Steam achievements

A short gameplay demo is now available on Steam:

Looks great!

After GanaBlade, I'm in for whatever he cooks next. :)

Looks quite good, and it's 4 euros/dollars. Bought.

I really enjoyed Ganablade from this developer and Red Blue Cell is a fantastic follow up. It works great on Steamdeck with no issues loading and getting in to game. For a few quid it is an easy recommendation.

In case anyone is interested, it seems the game works well on a Steam Deck:

The Steam release of Red Blue Cell stg is a mere 258.38mb d/l and runs at a silky-smooth arcade-spec 60fps framerate with no Proton loader necessary to boot it. A penny shy of sixteen quarters is the asking price of this newfangled doujin stg of RBC -- which is quite reasonably priced and affordable to begin with. An art gallery with 13 different images await you to gloss over + a music player to listen to the awesome in-game OST are available at your disposal under the Options sub-menu selection. No online leaderboard support is present.

Online leaderboards will be available in a week, according to the developer:

For 4 bucks I am in. Hopefully it is not balls hard like Ikaruga.

And this is not sarcasm, but I love how this guy totally swiped Compile and Raizing's sound fonts. I love the sound effects they used.

My early impressions are quite positive.

Like GanaBlade, it's a very charming little shooter.
For the asking price, it's a very easy recommendation, even after just playing a couple of stages.

Also, if anyone is curious how the scoring calculation works currently per kill (for enemies matching your color) here is a quick run down:

NORMAL -
scoretotal = score * (2 * rate)

Hard -
scoretotal = score * (3 * rate)

Retro -
scoretotal = score * (4 * rate)

GOOD % in-game = rate

GOOD 100% = 1.0 rate
GOOD 90% = 0.9 rate
GOOD 80% = 0.9 rate
GOOD 70% = 0.7 rate
GOOD 60% = 0.6 rate
GOOD 50% = 0.5 rate
GOOD 40% = 0.4 rate
GOOD 30% = 0.3 rate
GOOD 20% = 0.2 rate
GOOD 10% = 0.1 rate
GOOD 0% = 0.0 rate destructive.

note: GOOD%, or rate, falls when killing enemies of opposite color.

note: retro mode is always applied 1.0 rate and polarity rules are removed
