If you have the Switch "Smile Basic 4" game app and with a $10.00 usd license fee, you can d/l the latest updated 1/02/2025 version of Konimiru's Q Caravan stg -- a crazy and wacky "bullet-hell" infused caravan based stg with both 2 minute and 5 minute modes. Is a tribute to the classic Hudson Soft caravan stgs found within the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 stgs of Super Star Soldier and Soldier Blade.
If you manage to place in the Top 5 Rankings, your score and elapsed time are saved for posterity (plus cool score graph bar statistics for each score within the Top 5 ranking list shown on the main title screen -- just use the left Joycon stick or d-pad to scroll up & down your listed ranked scores). Q Caravan has a silky-smooth 60fps framerate overall presentation.

Good eye and thanks for alerting me! I love seeing the shooters folks come up with in SmileBASIC, and this was a fun one. You definitely aren't kidding about the Star Soldier influences though, the dev very clearly studied those pretty closely.

How many good shooters are on this platform by now? Curious if I should take the plunge...

Re: On Switch Smile Basic 4 game app, new Q Caravan stg.....
Konimiru released another updated version of Q Caravan stg on 1/17/2025 which still retains both 2 minute and 5 minute modes -- if you can score at least a million or more points in the 2 minute mode by the time it's up, you're doing great.
----------
Also, by collecting those red orbs and maxing out the flashing red bar meter, by simply pressing the R1 button activates the cool 8-way firing "limited timed" mode (that's strongly reminiscent of the classic PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 stg of Gunhed/Blazing Lazers' cool golden Gunhed fightercraft icon that gives you the same awesome 8-way autofire mode making it the premiere ultimate power-up bar-none throughout the entire game indeed). Nice tribute/nod towards that classic stg through and through.
----------
The 2D sprites that are shown throughout each caravan session are quite detailed and colorful, especially if played on an Oled based Switch setup.
The end-results graph bar historical stats of the Top 5 caravan scores that gives the stg player key important info on the "highest and lowest" scoring sections per caravan session as shown on the main game title screen are saved for posterity -- how cool is that? (this is actually the first time that this type of specific specialized functionality has been implemented in a Smile Basic 4 created stg, let alone a caravan based one, which is a truly groundbreaking and stunning revelation -- it can be modified & incorporated into other future stgs released "down the road" as a QoL enhancement). It'd be quite nice and beneficial to save caravan scoring replays to gloss at one's leisure at a later time (but the current limitations of the Smile Basic 4 creation engine doesn't allow for that particular type of functionality "off the bat" as it is).
