OKAMI SEQUEL has a chance to be the best looking game of all time.

Post by AyeYoYoYO »

Okami sequel has a serious chance to be the most breathtakingly visually gorgeous game of all time. And also has a chance to sincerely be one of the psychologically enthralling games of all time. Geeked AF.

Okami HD is ALREADY the single greatest 3d Zelda style game, including all the Zelda titles. Only Wind Waker HD & Link Between Worlds come close, IMHO.

I sincerely hope CAPCOM also does a remastered Switch2 Okami HD physical cartridge, which fully takes advantage of Switch2’s DLSS3.1+ upscaling technology, to display the best possible 4k/60FPS visuals when docked. And of course, it comes with all the extras/artwork-galleries/history/etc.

& speaking of CAPCOM & Zelda/Nintendo….

… I’d love to hear about some beautifully hand-drawn remakes, of top down Zelda titles:

1. an OG 1986 Zelda remake (made by Nintendo R&D4, which had some future Capcom employees on the team IIRC)
2. Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons remakes (made by Flagship-Capcom)
3. Minish Cap remake (made by Flagship-Capcom)

So excited for 2025-2026, seems like a gaming-golden-age / renaissance may be upon us.

60 FPS breaks Ookami. Not happening. If you want 4K, that's what the PC version is for.

My problem with the original Okami was how many times you had to fight the same bosses. I was ready for the game to be over about 30 hours before it actually ended.

It's poorly paced at best for sure. Bought it twice, dropped it around the halfway point twice; the game's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long and empty for its own good. That original game has potential, so hopefully they manage to clean up the mess with this new game. I have the DS game but never played it.

If they can cut down on the padding and maybe add a bit more challenge they'll be in fine shape, as IMO the first game got almost everything else right. Can only wonder how many of the original devs will be involved outside of Kamiya at this point, though; guess we'll have to wait and see how things shape up as more media eventually trickles out.

Haha. I felt the same way about Elden Ring.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

I was so happy for this announcement, and especially that Kamiya was coming back. He hasn't been able to get a game out, since W101.
He's prickly, but he's too talented for that fate.

I don't see this topping the original (for me... and yeah, it has it's flaws), but hopefully it can be a quality follow up. Bad thing... this will at least take 3 years.
He's not a fast director, at all, and there wasn't even one shot of gameplay.
Seems like most of the quality guys at Platinum are following him over to his new studio. He needed to get back to Capcom. It was fate.

I completed Okami but was honestly mind-numbed by the verbiage. Never again.

It makes look an hideo kojima game something like Another World in comparison.

Not really sure why Kamiya put so much dialogue in it. Bit much, yeah.
You can skip it, easily, now.

Hyperbole, much? Anything can be the Best X of Y, until Z comes along and dethrones it on the next loop. That's just an industry truism for 'please direct your attention to our new thing'.

Happy to see it, though - very striking style, even if the trailer is obviously a target render. I just hope they evolve the original formula instead of trying to coat-tail Breath of the Wild's emergent open world fluff.
Can't imagine they'll pull the secretly-three-games-back-to-back trick again though, given modern production costs. Okami 2 was the best part if you ask me.

Serendipitous that Kamiya would return just as Itsuno leaves; perhaps they'll have him helm DMC again in the future, if that isn't a not with a barge pole mate situation now the series has moved so far from its rock'n'roll roots.

Using 'best possible' and 'upscaling' in the same sentence is a contradiction in terms, no?

Plus, Okami's strengths were never in the raw numbers. It's all about that style, which is a much less trivial thing to reinvent.

When this was announced, I started telling my mother about the boss fight with the dragon, and how you had to get them drunk... and how brilliant I thought it was.
Mom can't walk, and was just sorta stuck there listening to me. She fell asleep.

oh no kami

Post by NYN »

A sequel. After 20 years. Huh. Is there a appropriate term, one that suggests some juicy jerk-off for a certain demographic or "generation", that is a seemingly a wish-fulfillment, across media?
No? There should be. It's distasteful.
