sony kv-30hs420 issue

Post by vmoore »

i have an issue with my Sony kv-30hs420 this is the tv that all my retro consoles are hooked up to. there is also a yamaha av receiver model rx-v465 hooked up in the mix as well
the 36 fps shown in the link is my issue https://www.testufo.com/framerates#coun ... llscreen=1
I'm currently playing dark cloud 2 and whenever I move the camera I get the terrible motion flicker/ double image issue.
I have also noticed this when I tested Mario sunshine in some of the graphics with a kaico hdmi adapter and in ocarina of time. all were tested on original hardware.
Is this something I just have to live with? Is there just a service menu setting I don't know what it is? or do I need to buy a retrotink device?

? You cant run framerates anything other than 60, 30, 20 and expect even frame pacing on a 60Hz CRT. How and why are you getting 36 fps? Doesnt Dark Cloud 2 run at 30 fps?

In any case, maybe youve never experienced 30 fps in any game before? Your eyes are discerning the individual game screen redraws, which is normal at 30 fps on a zero blur display tech such as CRT. Actually, it would also be visible on LCD as well. Where have you ever seen 30 fps that looked perfectly smooth??

I think it was a typo and Josh meant 30fps
I would think that yes you are dealing with cheap processors and I highly doubt the problem is with your tv.
You have to do testing.
try other games, try other systems, other cables, running games in different resolutions and framerates
and try other tv's/monitors and perhaps you can record a video of what exactly is going on.

Try to eliminate any devices such as the receiver just to troubleshoot. At some point you will find what the problem is and then perhaps with that component, there might be settings to test out.

Make a list

What is going well:
-system xx- game xx -

What is not going well:
-system xx- game xx -
