Here's my Phillips CM8833 MK2:

Its not there on the Wells Gardner K7000 monitor in my arcade cab. What you are showing on your video looks like it could be your recording device trying to adjust the light intensity. Look at my video below. Its stone cold still, in the video and in person.

Can you zoom in more than you have? My Phillips absolutely has it in person, but it's only visible if your eyeball is pressed to the glass, from the distance you have in the video it wouldn't be noticeable. It's not a phenomenon of the camera I'm afraid, although it does make it seem exaggerated.

If you need to place your head to the glass what does it matter if it's there or not ?

I think I asked this here before with no success but it's well worth a try:

How can I locate that focus phase control mentioned in that manual? I've got a couple of units with FE-2 chassis needing focus adjustments on the sides. The Focus pot by itself isn't solving it.

Also, I can confirm non-CVBS sync cables won't work well as such with this popular chassis. C-sync ruins all the colors, sync-on-luma ruins red color. If anyone knows a solution for this, please, let me know. I've got way too many non-CVBS cables to even think about getting rid of them.

Cheers.

That would be the dynamic focus in the SM, if your set has it. Both of the Sony HDCRTs I own have it, not sure how many of their SD units have it.

I'm afraid it doesn't, nor do I remember it on other units/chassis. Interesting that they added it as an option in the service menu later. I wonder how they expected it to be fixed on previous models. Just with Focus? So is it normal on SD consumer models that the picture focus is never perfect on either, the corners or the center?

This unit has a VM option, though. How do I now if it's disabled? Should I do it?

And thanks for the input, as always!

VM can just be turned off in the standard menu. Whether you do or not is personal preference. Sonys usually give 2 or 3 "levels" of VM. I personally like at least the low level for most content over "OFF", but many people prefer off.

Is it "noise reduction" in the user menu (off/auto)? Otherwise, I can't find it on these units.

What I wonder is if VM has to do with the picture focus or how should I be noticing it, because I couldn't see a difference when I tried via SM. I've read that those who disable VM usually have to re-focus the picture with the Focus pot, and that's not something I can do again any time soon on these 29-inch units.

Also, is it normal the on-screen menus wobble so much without a source?
