Hello,
My NEC XP29 Plus stopped turning on after making a burning smell from the DEFB board area. I had a previous thread discussing unable to get proper image with anything above 15kHz, with a burning smell. After a while of letting it sit, I attempted to turn it back on, but the power supply just chirps. Using the service manual, I confirmed the issue is in the DEFB board, as removing connector HF from the HV PWB allows the monitor to turn on. Power supply voltages are normal.
I noticed that transformer T5501 (horizontal output transformer) on the DEFB appears to have melted on itself. I have looked up the part number, but I can find no transformer like it anywhere. It looks like a flyback from a smaller, older monitor, but without the normal flyback leads. I am sure I will have to replace this part, or attempt a repair - if that is possible. I'm also thinking a transistor on this board became stuck on when I was having issues above 15Khz. Finding these transistors is a non issue, however.
Hoping someone here has experience with this type of transformer and can help track a replacement down or provide some other suggestion. The part number is 47710022.

Thank you.

Re: NEC XP29 Plus DEFB Failure
Where are you located?
Do you know anyone with the same monitor (and board) to test?
