NESRGB 4.x board capacitor/resistor values

Post by ShiftyGeezer »

I’ve just installed the board in vanilla form yesterday and it worked great.

However, when I started messing around further with the audio rebalancing mod, recap, and IGR, I must have messed something up as I now get garbled video as if it’s out of synch. I referenced Firebrand’s pictorial YouTube video, Kytor’s 4-part installation series, and Long Island’s videos but still can’t figure out what went wrong.

So rather than pulling my hair out left and right, I want to roll back to where it was working before with just the basic NESRGB installation with the four wires, and then re-do them one mod at a time.

Unfortunately, I removed a bunch of resistors and capacitors off the NESRGB board per the audio rebalancing mod and I don’t know what the original values are since they aren’t documented as far as I’m aware. It’s the pieces within color squares (Image from RetroRGB):

Does anyone have this information?

Not sure if this makes any difference, but the board has the NESRGB43 T.W. 2024 marking which I presume means version 4.3 revision. It more or less looks same as previous 4.x series.

Thanks!

Update - I figured out the resistor values after taking a close-up screenshot from Kytor’s 4K video:

Now I just need to figure out the capacitor values…

EDIT: I think I figured out the capacitance of the three large ceramic capacitors after using the capacitance meter, each measuring 2107nF, 2200nF, and 2900nF. I presume this means the two at the bottom in serial are rated for 2200nF and one near the top of the image is rated for 3300nF. Now it’s just the little capacitors but those got lost after I wicked them away with solder blob :(

More updates.

Well, given this was a video synch issue, I undid one mod done on the AV multi-out. The two ground pin that was drilled out to isolate them from the circuit apparently was the culprit.

EDIT: I apparently missed the memo where the isolated pins needed to be reconnected to the ground pad on the NESRGB board.

Also, I forgot to mention in the OP but the console is connected through Tink4K using RGC’s GC SCART cable and outputted to an LG OLED TV.
