My 8bitdo stick is feeling very loose. I thought about installing a proper seimitsu stick, but my 8bitdo is the first version which only has space for the ls33 or 55.
I don't want to drill a hole at the bottom, so I thought of it's feasible to put an actuator on the stock lever to make it tighter and change the ball top to battop. I have no idea about the compatibility of the stock stick.
And also changing 3/4 buttons.

Honestly I would have no problem drilling a hole at the bottom if I could do it cleanly. I think one of the major arcade stick manufacturers (Qanba?) actually did that, though it was for lever maintenance and not clearance issues.
But once there's a hole, then I'd imagine it would just be a matter of getting tall rubber feet for the bottom, unless you're putting the stick on your lap.

LS-62 also fits into the 8bitdo if you want a Seimitsu one. Sanwa-JLF with the actuactor is also nice and I use it for general arcade games on my mister fpga, but it's decent for shmups too.

SELS-70 (a variation of the LS-56 with a shorter body and an adjustable (and removable) shaft that doesn't spin) should fit. If you want silent, there's the Qanba JOV8S (which often goes on sale) and the JLX-TPML (same size as JLF with adjustable tension on the switches).
