Such a neat idea. I'm curious about the state of it all today!

I had to revisit this project for a commission to retrofit some arcade Timecrisis 5 camera lightguns into the old slide recoil housing of these NAMED lightguns.
It been many years, I have learned much more about electronics, and wanted to squash a few bugs this old thing had.

I have redesigned it so it is always powered and waiting for a trigger signal.
The old circuit would power on from the trigger signal and then give one shot, which could cause miss fire of the solenoid.

I have also changed out the 555 for a lower voltage one to work more reliably with 3.3v input, added better decoupling, and a mosfet with a faster on time.

It can be used as a replacement/upgrade for any arcade gun with a solenoid, or for these Guncon/Dreamcast upgrades

Just stomp on the button to turn rapid fire on or off.

I am still testing it but will have a few premade boards spare if anyone is interested.

Hit a bit of a brick wall trying to implement a debounce for the bumpfire that can occur with the powerful slide recoil.
While I could of added more to the BOM and have it done all analog, I decided to do it with an RP2040 a button and a mosfet.
I am still perfecting the code with options for rapidfire and a few other goodies and will post it here when done.

sounds good!
If you want any helping reviewing the code at some point, lmk. I am very handy with debouncing in hardware (74HC14) and software (Arduino delays n all).
