Buying a Saturn 3D controller

Post by shmupsrocks »

Do Saturn 3D controllers tend to wear out? I want to buy one but not sure what to watch out for.

The stick at least is actually more resilient than any modern ALPS potentiometer-based stick so the 3D part is good. D-Pad should be as durable as any other saturn one. I feel like if anything would be weird it's maybe the detachable cord connector or maybe springs in the triggers?

Ok it sounds like they're pretty tough. Are there good 2-player games that use the analog stick?

The one that comes to mind is Daytona USA CCE (the JPN version)
That was one of the few games that impressed random non-gamer friends of mine back in the day, and they had a blast playing it.

Sonic R is another 2 player analog racer. I loved it once I got accustomed to the controls.
