That kawase score from MKnight is more impressive than it might look, that char is so horribad that any decent amount of points is quite the achievement!

I'm well-aware of your Sonic Wings grind. Best of luck btw saw your 2-5 PB just now! But I hadn't put the Mao score up yet, because I didn't make categories for Sonic Wings 1. With 8 ships and the scoreboard tracking two different versies (it includes Aero Fighters), I didn't want to make subcategories for each ship. Especially since you're literally the first person to submit a non-Kohful/Keith score. So it would just be 16 categories with only 3 actually filled in. If this game becomes super popular and other ships are actually used I'll add your Mao score right away.

Also very aware of this one. He already had a higher score in the OP at 82,912,740. Probably in one of the oversees versions.

I have been thinking to change the Dimahoo scores to only include scores from the JP version. I'd been convinced previously that the JP and US have the same difficulty. Some high-scoring players in that thread mentioned only EU being easier. But I'm not sure if there is a consensus on that yet. And it also used to be the case that pretty much every score was done on a non JP version of the game. To be able to read the lists in the game presumably. But that seems to have changed since I started the thread three years ago. So maybe it's time to re-do that board with only JP scores.

US is at least as hard as GMD but someone recently claimed that is was even harder. I did not took the time to properly test it yet. EU is the only easy version of GMD.

Expect big improvements this month

And big improvements were made.

I've changed my mind and the Sonic Wings board includes all the characters and Aero Fighters scores aren't listed anymore. Apparently the games are different enough that I felt it wasn't fair to combine them like that, and this also makes all the Sonic Wings boards consistent now. Congrats again on the 2-all!
Hopefully with the higher activity the game has right now, the other ships will have some scores listed too.

Hey all! I've been on vacation for the past few weeks and had limited internet. So it's very likely I've missed a couple here. I considered just combining the june and july update in one given how late I am now, but postponing this even more seems like it'd only get harder to find june scores.

I'd gone back through the score threads to find these, but RS doesn't even go back to July with all recent activity just being scores for that new Redneg game.

If anyone knows of any more scores please let me know!

It's been a little hard to "find" the time to update the souky thread but DMC's new score is incredible indeed! I had wanted to congratulate your big gains in Blazing Star but it unfortunately slipped from my mind.
I especially enjoyed seeing Kino show some love to Daioh and enjoyed watching his 2all video of the US version, given how crazy the second loop gets (and showing off the score bug too).

Yea I've also been kinda lazy with updating everything. Also if you "find" the time, the Zing Zing Zip board still has the broken table. Wouldn't want the score thread for such a prestigious game to be left in disarray.

Kino has been on a roll with that game! idk what the general Daioh playerbase thinks of the score bug but it looks pretty cool to me.

A.K's run was done on the port, but I don't know if this one uses the JP version or the overseas version. Does anybody know more about this? This was the picture attached to the submission on RS.

Fear not, this will happen soon I tried a week ago and realized I had deleted the powershell script that set everything up for me, so I just have to find it again. Lord knows that uh, Zing Zing Zip deserves better.

Massive scores this month!

Seriously inspiring scores from third_strike, he's been crushing ESPGaluda the whole past month or so and it's amazing to see him shoot up so quickly from his initial goals in the 50million range to the mid 60s!

DMC's newest PB in Soukygurentai is also truly an achievement, and watching his streams on twitch where he attempts to survive the game's punishing RNG makes you appreciate the effort that went into getting all them bomb bonuses

It's likewise been cool to see a burst of interest in Brave Blade due to the Calice Cup tournament, producing a number of new excellent clears for people to enjoy. So much so that DMC, whose 1cc guide video is THE authority on the game in the community (IMO) has been dethroned!

As a final note re:Keith in Hyper Duel I like seeing a community record change hands from one month to the next - how's that for competition!

Always crazy to see third_strike destroy both old-school shmups and bullet hell stuff indiscriminately, this man does not overspecialize in specific shmup subgenres!

And is this a new episode of the love-hate romantic comedy featuring EmperorIng and Mao Mao? The lengths a guy can go for for his girl, pretty admirable haha

Oh yeah I'm quite glad we got to play Brave Blade! Very underdiscussed game that is lots of fun to play. Calice Cup power came in clutch with 3 of these new community records being from the tourney

As a final note re:Keith in Hyper Duel I like seeing a community record change hands from one month to the next - how's that for competition!

Thank you very much EmperorIng! I'm a veteran player from the pre-internet era and never cared to post my records. Hyper Duel changed that, because it's such a special game. You practically can't cheat on it: it all depends on creativity, to design a perfect pattern for stage 5. The rest of the game is relatively easy, yet endurance and skills are not enough. You have to be inventive, something western players, like yours truly, unfortunately are unable to be.

The near 200k jump I achieved from HAN's score was only possible, because of an obscure japanese YT account, where I found a fantastic approach to stage 5 from 1994 (gosh!). Why couldn't I come up with something similar myself, right? Still, my effort is almost 300k less, than the WR. We, the western players, are 30 years behind. For example, I still use the old life sacrifice on stage 4, while the first 2,7 mill break from 2003 clearly states "no miss".

It's like Monty Burns would see my score and say: Ah, the new Packard we've been hearing so much about. Meanwhile all Japan's riding go carts powered by their own sense of self satisfaction hahah...
