A friend has asked me to review ibara for a web site, i am not that good at writing things like this and have never written a review before so it might well turn out rubbish (they may even refuse to put it up
) but i figgured a chance to spread the good word about shooters was too good to pass up on
anyway i don't understand the rank system etc. enough to fully explain it, so was hoping it would be ok to include a link to this forum in the review?

You might want to link to the high-score thread, the Arcade Mode discussion and the Arrange Mode discussion for more detailed sources of information.

Suppose Arika did dev of PS2 Ibara port instead Taito...
Having got a brand new sealed copy of PS2 Ibara from SAM last week (thanks again SAM), my question is this:
Suppose if Arika had done the PS2 port of Cave's Ibara arcade shmup instead of Taito, would they have included the proper true arcade "Tate" mode @ 15.7 kHz sync rate output (like they did on the PS2 DDP-DOJ & ESPgaluda ports)?
It seems that the "Tate" mode that Taito did with it's PS2 port of Ibara doesn't look as good as if Arika had done the port IMO. (Again, this is all just speculation at this point but I'm sure Arika would've done a better job handling the PS2 Ibara port anyways...) ^_~
Of course, I realize there is the original Cave produced Ibara Jamma PCB to own & play on a JPN-styled (or USA-styled) arcade cabinet or Supergun setup if one wants the 'true' full-fledged Ibara arcade experience if the PS2 port doesn't whet the appetite of the rabid die-hard Cave arcade shmup PCB fan (you guys & gals know who you are). ^_~
Yes, I know this is just mere speculation and hypothetical guessing on my part, I do know of the botched DVD Superplay fiasco of the Ketsui drama between Arika & Cave...suppose that incident was downplayed and things were worked out in the end -- the end result we would've still see Arika doing some Cave's latest arcade shmup releases as ports for the Japanese PS2 console.
Could a business reconciliation between Arika and Cave still be mended or are they still not talking with other (because of Ketsui Superplay DVD drama issues/miscommunication/misunderstanding breakdown)?

FYI, it didn't come out of my ass.
On Topic:
PCFX, Arika are highly unlikely to port anything Cave now, for various reasons. We'll just have to rely on Taito and hope that the next port isn't completely mangled. ^_- If you don't like the port for the quality, then grab the PCB kit, it should be cheap enough now. All you'd need after that is a cab/s-gun, and a decent display.

That 'incident' didn't really damage relations as much as people seem to think. Lots of it was just Mihara being very publically ashamed of the entire thing and hoping Cave didn't hate him for life.
I think he even later said Cave asked if they wanted to do Mushi, but they turned it down because it requires too much work. Not that I can find any supporting links to this (as I think most of the discussion occured on click's site, IIRC.)

That's because you refuse to adequately practice or try to understand all the subtleties behind butt-bunny wishing (henceforth BBW)! You're unable to break free from your misguided conception that butt-bunnies are just HANDED to you, without you even having to WISH for them! Why don't you complain to God/Nature/Fate for not giving you an "instant butt-bunnies" button to push whenever you want them? Either wish harder or get off the forum! Only the truly devoted have the right to ever feel that incomparable uncomfortable tickling sensation down below, just before the moment of triumph!Soldato J wrote:FYI I just tried and it does not work (and I was wishing REALLY hard)

I swear, all you "casual" BBW-ers do is whine, whine, whine!

Taito "best" edition scheduled for Jan 18th. Pre-orders are up on play-asia.com. Will retail for about $30. A cheap way for those who missed the first print of the game (which is now OOP btw) to get a copy.

It would be great if they took the time to put in the real Black Label instead of Arrange mode for this edition, but we all know they're too lazy to do that.
