Hey, I checked the connections with a meter and found that the location for the debug pin is pin 11 on the Tvia chip (red). The pin to disable the MTV230
should be the yellow pin in the picture and on the GBS at least needs to be tied to ground. I'm sure you've already noticed this, but the MTV230 is rotated 180 degrees compared to a GBS, so if you get it working and plan on installing a clock generator be sure to keep that in mind as the SCL/SDA pins are on the opposite side.
Hope this helps.
I bought the GBS8200 the other day then made it into a GBSC and it worked.
Regarding the failure of the HD Box Pro, I'm guessing that it's directly controlling the TV5725 by the firmware chip and not the MTV230, because the HDP's firmware chip's SDA and SCL are connected to the TV5725 (the GBS's firmware chip's SDA and SCL are connected to the MTV230)
Pin 11 of the TV5725 is VB7.
I think the Debug Pin is defined by the firmware chip, maybe the GBS' firmware can set the MTV230 into Debug Mode or Slave Mode IIC Function.
When I'm not busy I'll test disconnecting SDA and SCL from the HDP's firmware chip (not connected to the TV5725) and connecting it to the MTV230.
Sorry for my poor English.
