I’m pretty sure I never interrupted any initialisation with this board so it should be fine, but it isn’t. I’m getting error 81. I’ve tried both a US Viper Phase 1 and a JP Raiden Fighters Jet and both render the same problem albeit in different languages.
Has this thing just died on me and is there anything I can do? Hardware mobo mods would be nice for this board as it’s one of the worst motherboards I’ve encountered.

Maybe check for lifted chip legs, it was mentioned that the customs often need reflowing in this thread: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/thread ... 81.232323/
Reflashing U1053 was also mentioned as a possible fix.

No bent pins/lifted legs here. This is a 2.1 board where there are no real socketed chips.
Seems like it’s toast. No resurrection techniques as of 2024?

Re: Seibu SP1 hardware error 81
Did you try reflashing U1053 already?
Maybe try this, it reportedly can fix region corruption issues:

I’ll look into that, thanks. I don’t have a chip flashing device unfortunately

Re: Seibu SP1 hardware error 81
Yeah, you'd need to desolder it and then use a programmer (I assume a cheap one from Aliexpress should suffice if you get the right adapter, just make sure to write several times), or you might be able to find someone here or on someplace like Arcade Projects who can do it for you.
