Lists of PC-Engine game ports

Post by Lemnear »

Since many people like PC Engine, i ask this question:

How many PC-Engine ports (or TurboGrapx-16 or CD) exist on current consoles? And for which ones?

There are almost certainly zero ports.

Now for emulation it's different, but there still isn't much. You've got Dracula X on PS4, and that's the big one. Kyuukyoku Tiger, Zero Wing, Hellfire, and Horror Story are on M2 ShotTriggers, but the PC Engine versions of those suck compared to the arcade versions, especially Zero Wing. Some of the Valis games are on the Switch, but... those games were never very good at all. The PC Engine Valis games are probably still the best ones, but they're still not great.

That's about all I can think of. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a complete list, but I'm sure there is something missing.

Darius Alpha and Darius Plus are on the Darius Cozmic Collection Console (I have no idea how the JP editions swing, the entire history of that collection is bonkers).

For non-arcade ports on the PC Engine, your best bet is the mini console - barely anything on there has had a modern console release.

I get a kick out of the PC-Engine games that got ported to Saturn or PlayStation ...there's a few but can only think of a couple right now:
Motteke Tamago was on PS and Saturn
Steam Hearts got a Saturn port

Seiya Monogatari. Linda³ was another, right? I think Advanced Variable Geo? I forget if those were PC games first.

Saturn was really the successor to the PC Engine CD in a lot of ways. When the PC FX landed with a thud all those devs with CD ROM experience found a natural home there (and the PS, sure, but it wasn't an underdog console so the vibe was a little different).

Parasol Stars had a recent emulated release on Switch, recent Xbox systems, and PS4/5. That game was also ported to Amiga, NES and Gameboy in Europe.

Ah yes, I didn't know about those first two you mentioned. I know Linda Cube, but only from PS and Saturn, didn't know it was an Arcade Card game too.
Also surprised me to find out an English translation for the PS version was released earlier this year after a 10 year effort.

Nectaris was one of the other ones I was trying to think of. Ported to PlayStation and even released in the US.

There's the PC Engine port of R-Type released on two separate Hu-Cards whereas for the USA market, NECHE released it as single Turbo Chip for the TurboGrafx-16 console (both R-Type 1 & 2 released under the PSX game of R-Types). Konami's Gradius Gofer Super CD-Rom2 release is quite stellar as is the Hu-Card of Salamander was released on the PS2. Parodius Da is another classic Hu-Card release from Konami.
