Zoetermeer, Videogame Museum in The Netherlands

Post by KAG »

I discovered this wonderful place by chance. The shmups arcades can be found on the -1 floor: Crimzon Clover, Espgaluda II, R-type II, Gradius and a few classics from the 80s and 90s I cannot recognize (sorry).

See their homepage (https://www.nationaalvideogamemuseum.nl) for opening times and ticket prices.

Wow. Looks amazing. I might have been to Zoetermeer, is it the city where the "nozomi headquarters" are? I went somewhere in 2016, in the south of the Netherlands. It was an event where I think you had to pay EUR 10 as an entry fee and then you had access to lots and lots of dedicated cabs plus quite some universals (Astros etc) for one day, everything was set to free play. If you know those guys then you probably know what I'm talking about. I think the host was called Hassan? Not sure. Basically everything was part of a private collection but once a year or something it was all set up in an environment where a bigger audience could play the machines. The line up was 10/10, too bad I didn't take any pictures. At the entrance there was also a nice tate setup with an Xbox 360 hooked up to a Pioneer PDP-V402 where I got to play Mushihimesama Futari 1.01 (and 1.5 and BL). That Pioneer PDP-V402 was quite popular at the time among STG and retro game fans, I don't know if it still goes for crazy money.

Some people that run the videogame museum are the same guys that organized the nozomi meets and were partially behind the (now defunct) forum.

Many thanks for sharing! Do you guys know if the Nozomi Meet will take place again? Presumably the organizer(s) must be aware of this forum...

PS. Crimzon Clover is now replaced by Ikaruga.
