Steam Deck Tate

Post by shmuppy-puppy »

Hey shmuppers,

does anybody know of a good solution for playing shmups on the deck in tate mode?
I know you can rebind the keys and just rotate the unit, but that feels really unergonomical during longer gameplay sessions.
Has anybody successfully tested one of the mobile phone usb-c solutions is there maybe even a dedicated solution?

The best way to play games in tate with a Steam Deck is to use either a 1st-party or 3rd-party Steam Deck Dock with an external gaming monitor with a rotating or stationary tablet stand (15.6 inch or smaller) + hook up your favorite gamepad or arcade stick and you're good to go.

I would connect an external controller and turn it on its side.

I know, I have a PC / arcade stick for that.
My question was more about mobile use.
I suppose something like that does not exist.

This looks pretty janky but it's an option.

That’s the vibe.
I was hoping for some sort of official gadget, but I might try to go a similar route.
