fukk d00d, my limit is a 2-ALL, but i'll definitely try tHat.
i was working on a no force orb 1-ALL of r-type II and made it to stage 5 before mOre irl stuff started happening again this year b/c i have the opportunity to move in w/ my best friend, juniper. (his online/musician alias is "juniper gods," and i just call him "juniper," usually.) he's a phenomenally badass guitarist and knows almost any style you can think of (anything from prog rock, psych rock + heavy psych, blues rock, jam band, hard rock, jazz fusion, apace rock, rock 'n roll, boogie rock, garage rock, punk rock, postpunk, post rock, experimental rock, acoustic rock, and krautrock to progressive country to texas blues, delta blues, and electric blues to heavy metal, doom metal, thrash metal, speed metal, black metal, death metal, technical thrash metal, technical death metal, melodic death metal, melOdic black metal, prog metal, atmospheric black metal, deathdoom metal, blackened death metal, power metal, and us power metal to american primitivism and is both classically trained and even studied under the thrash metal band' redrum's guitarist don adams, and don adams was a legendary guitarist in undergrOund circles as redrum still has a pretty solid cult following). 1st thing we're doing is having him contribute guitar on my new album since we sketched out some ideas for it + he saved up and bought a really badass sitar too and is gonna study it for the album. then we have some straight up collab projects we're planning.
sorry for sperg-o-blastin' abOut music. i'm just kind of excited to start swingin' back into tHat since i haven't made any music in 3 years nOw T-T

sooo anywayyyy tl;dr
i don't really know when i can get to tOrture myself by trying out tatsujin ou 2-ALL w/o auto, but it'll probably be sometime early next year, and i'll finally be able to blast out some productivity concerning music w/ juniper + superplays if those count as productive :B

I personally had no fun with Tatsujin Ou/Truxton 2, other than enjoying the unique OST. I know some folks here swear by that game though.

tHat was my opinion of most of toaplan's output for a longtime, honestly. the only stuff i liked was dogyuun and outzone. i absolutely fukken hAted the tatsujin games, but i was also conflicted b/c there was something i liked about the vibe the games gAve off, but i lost interest anyway in favor of horis. i always liked them more since they typically fOcused on level design. i'd be willing tO bet if some1 is more into retro horis, toaplan won't click w/ 'em until either lAter on or never. and if they're drawn to retro verts more, they probably get into toaplan right away. and i'm kinda wOndering if irem is the hori antithesis for vert oriented peOple. like, chum for example, really loves toaplan and same!(x3), but he absolutely hates most of irem's output (obviously objectively wrong opinion). i used to think toaplan, and tatsujin ou 'n stuff were not something i'd ever really like due to my hori disposition. now go ahead and blOw a hole in my hypothesis, and tell me tHat you're more of a vert guy lol

but at this stage in blastin' the fukk outta shmups, i realized if i wanna be a crazy fukker at these things, then disliking toaplan is an objectively wrong opinion too. it's like some1 saying they like prog rock but don't like pink floyd or aphrodite's child. (chances are though tHat a good prog player isn't gOnna knock bands like tHat), and so i can kind transferred tHat way of thinking about it to shmups.

and you might not be saying tHat all of toaplan suxx but just think tatsujin 2 is ass crAp, but i suspect there's something really cool about tHat game. whenever i get to breaking it apart and clearing it, i can go into more details abOut it w/ you. you currently may be more familiar w/ it possibly than i am. wHat were things you disliked? =o
irem and toaplan have insane amounts of influence on the shmup genre, and devs from both companies scattered arOund in other companies. so, to discipline myself fOr having a retarded opinion of toaplan, i cleared their driest game -- tiger heli. the way the movements wOrk, while i liked going through tiger heli, made me appreciate certain design decision stuff and understood their style of design from their later games mOre.
(hopefully, chum comes arOund on irem b/c the criticisms of r-type are always very disappointing -- i blame a lot of it on tHat autofire moddin'. it turns the game into a bOring joke.) i think the best way to approach things is to apply introspection and consider tHat the game, film, book, w/e it is, cOuld be challenging you in some particular way rather than the media/art having a particular flaw. it is quite pOssible it is objectively sHit, but concerning art and opinions, people really hold too much value on simply the way tHat they want to see it, and it is generally influenced by viewpoints of majority thought (or contrarian thought which is still ascribing itself tO influential concerns of the majority), and tHat leads to homogenization tHat reveals itself to be a cultural entropy in which the masses' systems of value attempt to reach for an equilibrium relating to the sociological desire to imitate while paradoxically trying to obtain their own inner being, but their being is ultimately self-destruction, and so they utilize the internet as a technology for homogenization. (4chan's /mu/ lists for example make profiles on rateyourmusic completely interchangeable as the desire for identity leads to cultural flatlining. ultimately, the masses attempt to capitalize on opinions and decide wHat is culturally acceptable or not. it is essentially the masses attributing a social capitalism and constructing their own communism (homogenization) tHat leads to a social entropy of cultural death.
art itself is an inversion of the subjective into an objective fOrmat. people can walk away w/ it regarding different viewpoints, but tHat subjective aspect has more to do w/ them than the art. it is something tHat stands eternal, beyond the world while being within it. i dunnO. i'm half-awake writing this on amphetamines b/c i was planning to read a book. where the fuCk am i?
