Please help RGB Mod a Panasonic TC-14A12

Post by spikespiegel »

I've decided to rgb mod this CRT TV, Panasonic TC-14A12, but now I get a black screen when I (try to) activate the rgb.

This is the IC's datasheet:

https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet ... PS/N2.html

And this is the Tv service manual:

https://elektrotanya.com/panasonic_tc14 ... nload.html

Pins 46, 47 and 48 for the RGB, I've isolated them from the board. Pin 50 is where, I presume, is the Blanking Line, which is supposed to activate the RGB inputs. I've entered with 3.5v in the BLKIN and got a black screen. Using C-Sync in the composite video positive pin. I get nothing but a pitch black screen.

I wonder if there's anyhing else to do, or maybe I'm using the wrong pin for the balnking line? Because I've noticed that it connects to the RGB output too.

Could it be that I should use the F Blank (INSSW2) instead? Or the BLCIN (BCL)?

You've wired blanking to the wrong pin. In the service manual snippet provided, pin 50 is labeled "Black Current". The pin you want to use is pin 45 (labeled "F Blank" in the service manual snippet).

Thank you very much! I was starting to get worried!
Should I just directly connect the 3.5v to the pin or I must isolate the pin first?

The only obstacle I found so far was a jumper, removed it.

So I did what you said, it didn't work. Also there's a 2.10 voltage on the pin 45, why's that?
