No, you don't. I was just asking if you really understood the system as you claimed, and I take it from your answer you don't really (which is what I thought). That's fine.
I had a little over 100 million in Maniac after about 20 days of play before I decided it wasn't for me and stopped playing.
That's fine, but you would have scored much higher in 20 days of play had you really understood how the scoring system works. It took me less time to get a 376mil ALL this past month, for example. Anyway, I realise no game is for everyone.

For the record, when I first got this game last summer I played it for a week or two and like you I got sick of it and tossed it aside. But about a month ago I pulled it out again after nearly a year, sat down and studied the superplay DVD where they explain the fundamentals of the scoring system, and I fell in love with the game.

lol
Right back at ya.

Sounds great, but it took you a year to do what I did in less than a month. My point was that I understood the system just fine but it was not to my taste.

That is, in fact possible.

No, it took me about two weeks, not a year, and only 2-3 days to beat your 108 mil score, if you want to be exact. Read my post again, I didn't play the game for 1 year. When I originally played it last year for a couple weeks I scored 64mil and only made it to the mid of stage 3, but I didn't really understand how the game worked (I also played the game in yoko mode through composite on a 19inch TV, which was a mess). I was referring to how long it took to get my score after understanding the fundamentals of the game. GJP recently got a 118mil ALL after like 1 day with the PCB and a 290 mil ALL after about a week (all with no rapid fire), as another example of someone who got a good grasp on the fundamentals and quickly made large strides in his scores.

Anyway, your fave games seem to be Ibara, Dragon Blaze, Gunbird 2, Battle Garegga, and stuff like that. While I like most of those, my three all-time faves are Mushihime-sama, Ikaruga, and Espgaluda. I doubt we'll agree on much.

Here you go:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 169#155169

I just made a quick guide to explain the fundamentals of the game, I will work on adding stage-by-stage guides later. Some of this info has not be accurately reported in any of the strategy threads on the game here thus far (particularly Slow A tapping, which everyone seems to have misunderstood until very recently).

Yes, I would like to be exact. Looking at the original high score thread puts you at (being generous) 6 days until 64 million, then no posts for a year. I don't know why you feel the need to lie about something like this.

WTF are you talking about? I said I didn't play for a year (when I did pick it up again I had forgotten everything and had to start over from scratch). Then I started playing Maniac again in early June and after 2-3 days I got 118 mil (I guess you could add the 1 week from last year to these 3 days and get 10 days, but that would still be less than the 20 days you played). What exactly am I lying about? Look at my posts at the end of the old Mushi high score thread before you post stupid shit like this.

Think it was new years day 2004 when I got the espgaluda pcb from excelent com. Not sure how many credits I play it, but i guess it was a view thousands.- At the end, I was at the third or fourth endphase of the endboss with a score about 39 Mio I guess. After that I sold this pcb.- But honestly I am in the mute now for a view more credits for this game. Or maybe better espgaluda2 someday.:)

For mushihime is now my second startup. I like this game, and I am sure this will be a long run for me to manage the dodging and triggering the enemys at the right time, but i am not in a hurry so it is ok.
- The pink bullets fit spicy to the brighten green lazers.:)

- Both fantastic games for me, too.

I think Mushihimesama is Cave's worst game by far. It's also one of my least favorite shooters ever. Terrible art direction coupled with a stupidly retarded collision detection scheme make for the worst shooter I've bought since Sol Divide.

And thus proves that fact that nobody is right, when it comes to art. Otherwise half the bullshit in museums wouldn't be there.

My favourite, too.:)

Also the finalbosstrack. Sometimes it sounds for me that the song has something like it would plays backwards. Think I thought the same by the finalbosstrack from espgaluda. Someome should try to play this track rewind. - Maybe a privat message from cave to hear.

You shoot the enemies and the number goes up. If you memorize where all the enemies are then you can make the number go up better. Then if you mamorize where all the enemies are and hit the buttons funny you can make the number go up really good.
Lol, I need to try this asap.

Mushihime Sama: Great art design overall, but I find the soundtrack to be a bit boring. The game is exactly what you expect from a Cave shooter if you play on Maniac mode. Normal mode just seems like an earlier beta version, way less bullets and bullet speed seems much faster. Ultra mode is neat, but it's just torture.

Espaluda: The design of this game is nothing less than beautiful. The soundtrack is just your average trance music, but it fits the game well. Some Shmup fans might find the difficulty a tad lacking, but it's still a great game if you crank it up to very hard (I know you guys hate it when I bring that up, but humor me and give it a shot). Definitely the easiest Cave shooter to 1cc on default settings.
