If you have additions, images, etc. to add, you know what to do. Note that I was referring to Google Translate's renditions of parts of A-Jax's Japanese Wikipedia page (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-JAX ), so I did a few extrapolations to tie together what I unearthed (q.v. the role of brainwashing being referenced for the second boss).

Re: Just added A-Jax to TVTropes
My local arcade hangout called Cal's R-Cade had an upright cab with an A-Jax jamma conversion pcb kit (complete with backlit full-sized marquee). Konami of America arcade subsidiary did sell/distribute A-Jax to American arcades back in 1987. Apparently with the Cal's R-Cade arcade joint, the arcade control panel was only wired up for a two button setup instead of three button setup per player (the third button activates the "Super Weapon" if it needed be). It wasn't until years later that I found out that A-Jax/Typhoon was really a three button stg game from the get-go.
With the correct dipswitch settings, you can have Player 1 and Player 2 take turns alternatively or enable simultaneously two player co-op capability and it even has support to flip the screen in 270° & 90° screen orientations for both players during a two-player session if playing A-Jax/Typhoon on a tate crt monitor endowed "cocktail table" cab setup. How cool is that?
I'm surprised that Konami was still supporting the older cocktail table based cabs in Japan with the A-Jax pcb when it was released to game centers back in 1987 (let alone the existing American cocktail table cabs from 1982 and onward).

That sounds really cool! I wish I'd had the chance (or not been to shy I guess) to play more in arcades when I was younger. Shame about missing the third button, reminds me of seeing pictures of some CAVE games in the wild missing the third button, presumably they didn't know or care you could go into the test menu to enable it...
