There's a new STG that's a verizontal based one made by Yaji running on Smile Basic 4 gaming app for the Switch that goes by the name of "Witch and Haunts, The Summer Carnival". It's a Compile Summer Carnival themed user-created STG that pays tribute to the classic PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 shmups such as Super Star Soldier, Soldier Blade and even Magical Chase as well. W&H-TSC even has a high score table that saves your highest scores and high score initials for posterity. How cool is that? This particular Smile Basic 4 app powered stg title was uploaded on 5-28-2024 for the very first time -- so it's brand new indeed.
What are your thoughts and opinions of the new "Witch and Haunts, The Summer Carnival" stg?

I can't find such a game on google anywhere, even by searching for it specifically.

Does it even really exist?

I'd have a lot more thoughts on it if the only other place on the internet that's not this thread had more than a handful of screenshots to it:PC Engine Fan X! wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 12:16 amWhat are your thoughts and opinions of the new "Witch and Haunts, The Summer Carnival" stg?

Yes, I've given it a spin. Apparently, you have to download the Smile Basic 4 app (that's available on the USA region Switch eShop which is free of charge). However, you have to pay a one-time fee of $5.00 usd for a Smile Basic 4 user "license", then you'll be able to download the latest and newest Smile Basic 4 user created apps, demos and games (including Yaji's newest stg title of "Witch and Haunts, A Summer Carnival" and his back-catalog of older SB4 based stg titles as well). You can also upload your own SB4 user created content if you have a paid user "license". The main thing/issue with this particular SB4 app is, you can only run/play any SB4 downloaded content from within the SB4 app itself.Daytime Waitress wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 10:18 amI'd have a lot more thoughts on it if the only other place on the internet that's not this thread had more than a handful of screenshots to it:PC Engine Fan X! wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 12:16 amWhat are your thoughts and opinions of the new "Witch and Haunts, The Summer Carnival" stg?

The app is on sale in the U.S. shop for $9.99, not $5. There is also a version with “1 ticket”, which i assume is the license you mentioned?
This is very…strange.

I downloaded this the other day after not checking the SmileBASIC lineup in a while and was pleasantly surprised. Very well put together and a lot of fun! Really captures that Star Soldier vibe without just cloning it entirely.
