Experiences with these wide 50hz Trinitrons?

Post by drojman »

Hi folks,

There's one of these crts near(ish) me. It's not HD or 100hz and looks like it should be quite nice, but I'm just poking around for info.

Curious if they're notorious for any issues, part of me wonders how good the geometry can be, they're large sets, this one is 28inches I think.

It would be nice to make use of widescreen where games support it too!

Thanks

I have a 1998 24" widescreen Trinitron from Japan, it only has composite and S-Video but it's otherwise pretty nice, geometry is good to my eyes but I'm not too picky. A bit of red/green color smearing, but I assume that's due to the age of the tube.

Interesting thank you. This one definitely has RGB too!

This is going to sound stupid, but how do you know how to set the 4:3 aspect ratio correctly? Do you just have to eyeball it?

It's got a couple default aspect ratios that can be accessed with the remote, the one for 4:3 looks pretty good but I haven't measured it.

There's also a green knob on the front that can adjust the aspect ratio, but it's partially broken and I haven't bothered using it much. The specific model is KV-24CW1, not too much info on it online though.
