Yeah, the new rules sound kinda "why does it matter" but we are in the age where we can browse these forums through cell phones and PDAs. I do both, actually. On the Palm Lifedrive or TX, my entire screen will be taken up with sigs like:

*link* "these are my favorite games"
*2 spaces*
*link* "these are what I'm playing now"
*2 spaces*
"some quote of some irrelevant reference" - Name Drop
So support the portable generation..so when you get your next future-gen business-esq portable device, you too can by lazy and not have to hit the full-page-down button twice and scroll back a little up just to see what the next guy said.

There's also the other issue of big sigs making things messy and harder to read. Of course, it's an extreme example, but I've seen forums where people have multiple images, so big that it fills a page. All that for one line of text. We want to keep this place nice and visually clean - this is why there aren't any Google ads and so on.
