Rather, actually, 12/15/23. Just also got my physical copy too, mentions "Ver 1.0.0 package" when you start either game.

Seems a boss rush offshoot is in the works, and a demo is available.

The REDNEG All Stars Swing-by Edition demo on Steam runs at arcade-spec 60fps framerate on a Steam Deck -- no Proton loader is necessary nor is it required to run the demo either.

Like dreamer (the original release) is actually a lot of fun but I still need to up the difficulty

I went through all stages on maniac and one shot them, did the trial mode maniac and expert and 1CC’d both on the first try, that put nightmare mode up on the select screen but it’s locked. I gotta figure out how to unlock it and then I might turn on suicide bullets

edit: alright, so finally, all world tour + expert mode + counter on felt real nice. it was the first time I felt really challenged and I only made it to stage 6 on my first try. kinda annoyed by having to unlock everything

I bought Cosmo Dreamer because sale, nice gameplay for sure.
Though I noticed it does not offer Tate display option (unless I missed it ?).

Does Like Dreamer have Tate display option ?

Both Cosmo Dreamer and Like Dreamer don't have tate option period. It'd be nice if they did though.

Seems this dev has a new side-scroller on the way, and there's a Steam demo to try - appears to be an emphasis on destroying stuff quickly and up close for scoring, plus optional permanent upgrades for newbies. Same questionable anatomy as you'd expect, but as a sucker for cute-em-ups I enjoyed the demo, it has a bit of a Neko Navy vibe going.

Actually, the one thing I can really tell when I played Like Dreamer... is that the dev/artist must have had so much fun designing/making the game.

It is so playful and happy with its colors and characters and overall vibe.

I will always be amazed that they use stock music too, because the music is such a pure match for the game.

Clearly they made sure to design pacing and graphics around the music too; Like Dreamer is truly a super beautiful work of art.

I wonder for this new game, how the gameplay will be.

Because for Like Dreamer, below the pastel colors and cute characters, is a very serious and hardcore arcade STG with very heavy Cave influences and fluent execution.

Also, I really love the character animations and their expressions, they have so much life!~

really just solid shooting and sharp gameplay. the art is maybe a bit under baked but at least it’s consistent and what would an indie STG be if it wasn’t a little horny (??? this seems to be a rule but it makes you investigate) the secret “battleship” style full stage boss a la mushi stage 3 is still eluding me. a really solid game! looking forward to that new fox game.

Ahh... I was going to ask what on earth is making you think anything in Like Dreamer is similar to Mushi Stage 3 @_@"...

You mean the Extra Stage?

Haha yes I guess I can see some similarities, very fun stage!~

I remember when I reached the boss and the HP bar appeared and I saw how many phases the boss had I almost fainted straight away. Almost 20 hearts?

Very fun!~

I'm also playing some credits of Like Dreamer now.
The Extra Stage (unlocked by clearing Arcade/Trial mode) is crazy, the boss is really good to train your DDP techniques.
I especially love the DDP Stage 4 boss remade as a frog ! I'm wondering if the dev went far enough to recreate this boss freeze bug available in DDP ?

I played some more credits and definitely love the game yet more !

Here is the flow of unlockables as I found them, pretty unusual for a shmup game :
* clear all 8 single stages in "Game Start" to unlock "Trial Mode", which is basically Arcade Mode with stages chained. In this Trial Mode you play 5 stages at your choice : 1, (2 or 3), (4 or 5) , (6 or 7), 8.
* clear Trial Mode to unlock Long Trial Mode where you play all 8 stages chained.
* clear Trial Mode to unlock Counter Mode. Counter Mode can be activated on stage select too, I'm not sure what it does, maybe add Suicide Bullets ?
* clear Trial Mode to unlock the EX stage, which is a single stage with EXTRA difficulty. This one was discussed above, ala Mushi stage 3 stage, and crazy boss with 20-ish life bars and DDP ripoff phase. I could not clear it yet, certainly one of the hardest content here.
* clear Trial Mode by going to the Hidden Stage (reached by being hit less than 5, 6 or 7 times depending on difficulty level) to unlock said Hidden Stage, namely Stage 9. Very nice stage with a sweet ala Ketsui Boss. The music for her final form is crazy.
* it looks like all those unlockables may be gotten in any difficulty Casual/Maniac/Expert

Not-so-Pro Tip :
* in the Settings, turn "Data Window" ON. This adds informations on the left of the screen, ala M2 Gadget. Allows for instance to see how many times you got hit to unlock the Hidden 9th Stage in a Trial Mode run.
* ennemies have no hitboxes, only the bullets kill.
* play with manual fever trigger, this helps control the moment where you'll get the cancel at the beginning of the fever
* you get another cancel when the fever ends
* try different weapons loadout for each character ; if you love Cave ships weaponry, you'll find them somewhere.

Not dev problem I understand @_@"... it is Germany censorship problem!~

I help paste from Steam Discussions:

>I messaged the dev. He said that they received a rating of "ineligible for distribution in Germany" and that there is currently no chance of the game being available in Germany again.

lol... Sorry >.<"...

Thanks for the info.
This shit makes zero sense. There's very little censorship of film and video games in Germany (unlike the past - Contra/ Probotector etc.), someone in charge must have had a serious duuurrr-moment.

Maybe... something as simple as trigger by comically big booba :p

Anyway... I did say before... even as a girl myself, I find those just super funny to look at. Makes me laugh. Only sad people take it seriously. But, I also did say before... with Like Dreamer (and actually, all the games by this same developer)... it is their style, and, for me... the most important thing is: every single game they make, I can see... they had so much fun. They put their heart, their soul... everything... into their games. Like Dreamer is one of my super favorite STG just for this reason! Not only I have fun... but I can really feel... developer had such super fun making it too!!!~

AFAIK this may be quite easy to avoid. Just create another user on your NSW, locate it elsewhere than Germany (France or US for instance), then buy the game with that user. You'll be able to play it with any other users on the same console.

It'd be the "region Switch change" setting to enable the ability to buy said Switch game listed in desired country + even d/l specific region Switch game demos for that matter (i.e. Japan). Works like a charm nevertheless.

----------
Play Asia sells the Japanese Switch eShop pre-paid cards: https://www.play-asia.com/en/nintendo-e ... /13/705239
and even the USA Switch eShop pre-paid cards as well: https://www.play-asia.com/en/nintendo-e ... /13/705qmj
----------

It'd just be the matter of selecting the right monetary denomination with enough money to purchase the desired Switch game in the host country's Switch eShop portal -- easy as pie.

----------
There are a couple of Hamster ACA1 titles that aren't listed on the USA region Switch eShop portal including Banpresto/NMK's "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" due to "iron-fisted" Harmony Gold owning the SDF-Macross IP rights in the USA (but Banpresto's "Macross II: Lovers Again" stg title is properly listed/purchasable) and Namco's "Fighter and Attacker" stg titles (due to jet manufacturer licensing rights issues which is a legal nightmare/quagmire indeed) but are listed for sale as digital downloads through the Japan region Switch eShop portal. Sad but true, folks.

Even Hamster did not include Fabtek's "Viper Phase 1 U.S.A." stg title with it's highly touted & exclusive 2-loop feature (as it's currently unknown whom owns all of Fabtek's arcade IPs as of right now) when it released "Viper Phase 1" as a Switch ACA1 title. To this very day, Viper Phase 1 U.S.A. remains as an exclusive Seibu Kaihatsu SPI game cartridge release in 2026 despite it's initial 1995 grand debut stateside (which is an exceptional and notable distinction unto itself nowadays).

The above Switch region change + regional eShop monetary credits guarantees that the end-user gets the desired Switch games despite the "non-listed" omission issue of certain Switch games for each given specific country region (which is a minor quibble at best -- it is what it is in end).

Thanks guys, but I should have been more specific: Steam won't allow me to buy the game, Nintendo's e-shop does. Again, I'm convinced somebody fucked up, as far as I can see there's nothing in this game that puts it above a 12+-rating.

I have a Switch, so I can (and probably will at some point) get the game. I have shittons of other stuff to play first though and don't much time available to play video games
