TV for EU shmupping

Post by Inkvisitor »

I recently purchased a PAL saturn which I modded for 60Hz and japanese region. Then I imported dodonpachi. Everything works fine on my 26" LCD TV but the game looks kind of blurred. I assume this is the result of upscanning the low resolution signal.

Now CRT TVs in europe are not expensive, around 270$ for a 21" and most should support RGB. Is there anything specific I should look for besides the obvious heat problems in tate mode?

Is this TV a good choice ?

Keep in mind that if you want tate your tv allt he time its better to have speakers on the bottom, not on sides of tv. Well, my tv looks like this http://bilder.preissuchmaschine.de/prod ... u7100d.jpg but it still works ;] About tv you mentioned - I guess there might be some problems with ntsc games on 50hz tv

I tate my TV with speakers on the sides and I have no problem at all. The TV in your link should be fine.. Just remember Sony's are quite heavy.

There is no 60hz issue with that TV, its got everything.

And yes, LCD TV's do have a noticable softness with Saturns because of the upscaling and of course depending on your choice of cable/connection can also make a difference.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
