I was going to get this game and an Xbox 360 until I played it a few times at Hey in Akihabara last week. Suffice it to say, it was a total bore. So boring in fact that I actually stopped playing midway (even though I was winning the match) and walked away. Haven't done that in a long time.

Each to one's own, I suppose. I wasn't too turned on by the gameplay the first time I played it in an arcade in Japan. Once you understand the technical aspects of the game and have had a few really tough matches with some opponents you might change your mind. This game definitely isn't for everyone. It's kind of like a Star Control/Powerstone/Gundam....shooter. It's refreshing to try something new, to say the least. :idea:

I have to agree with twe. I've passed by the game more times than I can remember, and I was never tempted to sit down and play it. I was always on my way to play something more exciting.

But hey, I'll try it eventually. It may be more fun that it seems.

It would be the first 360 game I've bought from launch day if its region free.

Come on G.Rev!!

Once again, I really don't think any of you should hold your breath. There has yet to be a single title released in Japan that has been any other region but NTSC-J, including titles that were released in other countries that were region-free. If you truly are looking forward to this release than I suggest you make the switch to an Asian 360 ASAP before your US collection gets to big. 90% of Asia versions of games are in full English anyway. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you US 360 guys anyway, but that's about the best I can say.

Well, while thats true about no NTSC-J titles being region free yet, you're forgetting several key points:

1. Very few (if any) US 360 owners have given a shit about any of the 360 JP exclusive titles thus far. The ones we MIGHT have cared about... are coming out over here anyways.

2. Importers have been a huge huge huge huge huge HUGE chunk of G.Rev's support. Border Down and Under Defeat saw very healthy sales from importers, and with the emails that I'm sure a lot of us G.Rev fans have been bombarding them with (at least I have) begging for SnR to be region free... and given the 360s popularity (or rather, lack thereof) in Japan... well... it would be downright fucking stupid on G.Rev's behalf to NOT make the game region free (if they have a choice, which they may not, I do not know).

Actually, you make a good point jp. But c'mon, you really can't reasonably expect for this game to be region free. It's a really niche title, so I doubt it'd be the first to be region free. I know, it'd be great if it were, but it won't be (believe me, I'd love to be wrong about this...).

As far as who chooses to make it region coded, I think it's up to the developer. Anyone know otherwise?

I don't expect it to be region free either. I mean, I like to think that G.Rev isn't that fucking stupid, and that they know they have an overseas fanbase... but... even with the brilliant almighty G.Rev one never knows.

I'm just saying... if they were going to go about this the logical way, as opposed to the "OMG ONLY JAPANESE CAN PLAY THIS EVEN THOUGH IMPORTERS MADE UP MOST OF OUR SALES!" path that I'm sure most Japanese developers would take for whatever asinine reason... then, it would be awesome, and more cool points for them.

When my copy comes in, if I can pop it into my 360 and play it, I'll be very happy and buy every thing G.Rev ever puts out ever, from T-Shirts to soundtracks to toilet paper. It don't matter.

But yes, I too DOUBT it will be region free, I'm just saying that an intelligent developer would make it so.

...

... unless its coming to the US anyways. At which point it would be very stupid to make it region free.

Edit:
Anyways, I just shot another email to G.Rev begging them to make it region free and asking them for some sort of confirmation. I doubt I'll get a response... but at least I'm doing my part.

Whether a game is region free or not ultimately depends on the publisher, and AFAIK Microsoft is publishing this (last i heard) and thus there's little hope of that happening.

If the region-free choice is up to microsoft and not Grev, then there's no way in hell that it will be region-free. With the aweful 360 sales in Japan Microsoft will do anything to appeal to all the Japanese with their retardedly gigantic egos.

I think it is a foolish assumption on jp's part that the decision is G.rev's to make. I'm confident that if it is, they will make the right decision, but the fact that there have been no region free releases in japan leads me to believe that it may not me.

I haven't heard anything about any "mature" content in this, so I doubt that...I'm thinking it might be their equivalent to an "E" here in the West. Up till now their equivalent to that (as displayed on most every import I own) has been some group o' kanji (or katakana or something, I don't know the difference) that I can't read...maybe they switched over from that. The ratings above that (I think) used to be (still are?) a "12" and an "18," but I'm not sure.

A= E and E10+
B= T (or old CERO 12)
C= PEGI 16+ (or old CERO 15)
D= M (17+)
Z= AO

Look at that Z rating. Damn. This one is just like our AO 18+ rating, but it will be government enforced.

As for SNR- I'll buy the import to hedge my bet. Even if it comes out here, I certainly bet there won't be an LE release in the US.

If there's a US release, I hope it would be priced at less than $59.99 given it being a niche game. I'd be afraid of that price scaring off some people. A $39.99 price like that Rockstar Table Tennis game would probably help get more interest for it.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

So yeah, it's not region free. They're still working on trying to get it out to foreign markets, though. Check the latest mailmag for more.

Anyone here who's ever had their heart crushed by the usually ignorant Japanese game companies saw this coming from a mile away. Did you guys really believe that you had a chance. Heck, do you even believe that you have a shot in the dark of it getting a US release? I don't care what the say in the mailmag, I call BS on that.

Now get out of here and trade your US 360s for Japanese ones, you rascals. 8)
