Re: M2 ShotTriggers DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei
I feel like I have to say, I am a little disappointed by the relegation of Black Label to an "extra" version of the game and Arcade Challenge seemingly being exclusive to White Label. Sure, White Label is the more competitive version, but I feel Black Label is definitely popular and competitive enough to justify its inclusion in Arcade Challenge. Seems like what we'll be getting is the perfect WL port and a still very solid but not quite perfect BL port.
At least the M2 gadgets work and there's online leaderboards for all versions though, which is more than can be said about their Toaplan ports.

Re: M2 ShotTriggers DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei
Oh, I was concerned that it would a case like the Toaplan games where it wouldn't even get gadgets. Gadgets and a leaderboard, yeah, that's totally fine if it's only missing arcade challenge since we can still practice with saves and stuff. Esprade Psi only had arcade challenge for the original non-Psi mode, I guess it's not worth them doing more than one version for modes like that.

Re: M2 ShotTriggers DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei
Speaking of the M2 gadgets and Toaplan ports, was there ever a reason given for why the gadgets were only available for the "primary" arcade version of each game? That was one of my few complaints especially with the first two volumes, where the 2P/international versions are generally considered easier but lack the gadgets, which are a pretty great training resource before you've totally committed all the elements of a stage to memory. Glad to see that they will still be available for DOJBL, at least.
I have to say, I haven't spent a ton of time with these games for quite some time so this change may have been more gradual than it seems, but it's really odd that the white label seems to be regarded more highly than BL at this time. I feel like the consensus had been for a long time that BL did a lot to smooth out the overall game balance without turning into "easy mode" or whatever. I'm not a high-level player by any means so I'm sure I'm missing a lot of the nuances in the balance of both games; really looking forward to being able to compare them on the same platform with M2 quality.

You can download the game to your Switch now from the Japanese store but it's only a preorder. The game won't actually boot for me, I'm guessing this will change come the 7th. The game is 767mbs in size for those interested. The wait is going to kill me!!

Still no sign of it on the PlayStation store, for whatever reason, but iirc, this also happened with the Aleste collection in 2021, where it didn't go live until the launch date

I got a "we've checked your card, you're ok" message from Play-Asia, so I guess they're getting ready!
Can't wait to see what the taxes and import fees will do to the total, but I doubt it'll be under $100... Excited and scared at the same time.

Re: M2 ShotTriggers DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei
PA shipped my LE. With two-day shipping, I'll be playing it by the weekend. I've been saving up all my "shmup energy" for this one, subsisting only on (UGH) modern games for the last month.

Re: M2 ShotTriggers DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei
Two-day shipping to Vancouver?! That's impressive. Mine is "estimated to ship on or after december 7", and since I went with economy shipping it'll take "around 14-21 business days" with "some cases up to 30 business days" to arrive, and then customs will hold it for another 1-2 weeks, so I'm playing it in late Jan / early Feb.
Usually I don't mind, but I'm like you with this one, I'm saving up all my shmup energy only playing casual games... Waiting... Crying softly into a pillow... You know. As one does.

Re: M2 ShotTriggers DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei
Play-Asia's shipping is amazing when you pay for Express (it was out of Hong Kong and on the way within a couple hours of getting the shipping notice). I will go for the free shipping if I put in a big order, but here and there I treat myself to the ninja shipping for big event releases.

~13+ hours until it should be going live on PSN (Eeeeeeeeeeeee!!!), usually they do arrive around midnight JST. IIRC, Switch eShop update typically happens in the morning.
I'm doing this one the way I usually do M2's PS4/Switch releases: download the PS4 version ASAP, then don't have to worry about slow shipping for my physical Switch version that will arrive eventually.

What is a Famitsu DX Pack? I always wondered why they put their name on a big package. Just for brand rep or something entirely different?

Yep, both Switch and PSN dl's grabbed. Currently enjoying some DJO goodness on my PS4.

Not really feeling the arrange modes. There's nothing as transformative as Mushimesama Futari's or Guwange's Xbox 360 modes.
Other than that, seems like a pretty good package.

Re: M2 ShotTriggers DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei
I vividly recall when M2 started doing these rereleases hoping they'd do well enough to push out one or two more before the usual business/financial ho hum kicked in and shut the project down. It's awesome to see a few years later that the community has supported them enough to continue doing great work. Put a few credits in during lunch and it has the usual polish and performance we've come to expect.

Re: M2 ShotTriggers DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei
Currently have White Label A Leinyan high score of 15552010!
1-3 Area 2
All those 5’s…1555xxxx “more dead than alive…I’m waitin’ for my man….”
Won’t last even a coupla hours but had to post.
My Xbox 360 Daioujou WL best to date was around 20,000,000 IIRC but haven’t really been playing much CAVE lately other than attempting to brush off rust playin’ DDP Daioujou WL & BL in MAME in last 10 days (JP versions of course for maximum punishment).
Back to it: would love to crack 20,000,000 and make it well into Stage 4…one can hope & practice…a lot…of both.
Edit/addition:
DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei is fucking beautiful!! And the level of bullet/enemy/environment vs player ship clarity and contrast is the best I’ve seen in an M2 STG release (Not suggesting it’s M2’s best STG but that specifically it looks soooo good and crisp crisp crisp!).
For certain it’s the palette of Daioujou that is a big part of this (and “eye of the beholder” etc) but also how M2’s managed to translate that palette is simply magnifico!
I defer to others who play pcb Daioujou but this just looks so fucking amazing vs Xbox 360 or MAME — recognizing various settings/configs/output etc differences in contrasting DDP Daioujou Rinne Tensei vs Daioujou WL & BL 360 vs MAME it’s still easy to say this looks so much superior!!
And with the high levels of clarity and contrast that affords a much better view of the battlefield/playfield and that enables a high degree of confidence (even for a mediocre player) which is really a blast; empowering even.
A joy to play and a happy return to Daioujou!
Thanks again M2!

Hehe, congrats! Love that feeling when you are there in the first few hours of a niche Japanese release when most of Japan is asleep (aka, the only time I have a chance of showing up on the top 50 of any leaderboard).
Today I got a trophy that "0.0%" of players had lol. Pays to get in early!
Yeah that's my white whale of any possible game. ShotTriggers Ibara, with Kuro... I will not complain about Batrider either, but at least I would probably be able to keep control of my bladder for that one. But Ibara? Gonna get messy over here.
You agreeing, or just listing games from Toaplan Arcade Garage?

I could swear it said shipping December 7th when I checked in on it yesterday, but I can't find that. It's not quite shipping time on December 7th for them as I write this. It still says "Arriving December 12 - December 21" for me (I am in the USA).XtraSmiley wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 10:56 pm Amazon Japan still hasn't shipped mine yet. Anyone else?

My Amazon.jp account also doesn't show that my Switch LE has shipped yet, but it's still showing expected delivery date of December 10-12 (yeah I paid for the fast international shipping for this one). I wouldn't be too concerned about it, it's currently only ~8:45 a.m. on release day in Japan.

I thought my PA order was going to ship on the 7th, but status shows it already shipped. That's pretty cool. Unfortunately I got standard shipping which is usually 10 business days on the dot.

EDIT: Amazon Japan sez it's coming via DHL on 12/11.

DHL shipping to the USA (including a handful of music CDs) went from ¥3800 to ¥6300. ¥2500 increase
I know USPS rates are going up again soon. Did overseas rates from Japanese carriers also take a big jump?
