The Cave Kits Thread

Post by undamned »

Well, we've kinda got something similar in zak's thread, but rather than further spamming his thread I thought we could do a fresh one that's a little more focused.

This thread is for listing the factory contents of all the CAVE kits (as best we know). Many of you guys are experts compared to me, so I'll let you guys post and then I will updated this (like sven has done with the shooting artbooks and such).

Have at it! :D

I don't include stuff like promo fliers and posters, as those technically aren't part of the kits.

Here are MMP and Futari to start off, I can put up the others later (unless someone beats me to it).

Muchi Muchi Pork!
PCB (wrapped in a blue baggie w/ pink bubblewrap)
Box (new style)
PCB feet
movestrip (sticker)
A4 marquee
POP
Instructions (monochrome)
MMP CD
Piggy keychain

Mushihime-sama Futari ver 1.0/1.5
PCB (wrapped in a blue baggie w/ pink bubblewrap)
Box (new style)
PCB feet
movestrip (thin glossy paper - no sticker backing)
A4 marquee
POP
Instructions (monochrome)
Two version 1.5 stickers (ver 1.5 only)
Mini-POP (ver 1.5 only)
Letter from Cave detailing ver 1.5 (only given to those who upgraded from 1.0 to 1.5 through Cave)
Instruction sheet from Cave telling you where to place the 1.5 stickers, with a postcard sheet on the bottom (only given to those who upgraded from 1.0 to 1.5 through Cave)

Those two aren't optional, they're included as part of the kit.

I think some of these extras are debatable. The Mushitama I have FS was purchased new a while back and doesn't have the flyers the recent ones do. MMP piggy mascots were probably thrown in for as long as Cave had AM leftovers, and who knows if every Ketsui out of the factory had the suction cup flyers.

the manual shows how to use it and so (for me) it's part of the kit (ketsui)

piggy mascot and cd are gifts from cave and so i think not really part of the kit

Death Smiles preorder specifically states kit contents:
PCB, instruction card, manual, strip, B1 poster

I would say the posters are definitely part of the kits as they come with ALL kits in at least the first batch.

If you want to get technical, you're going to have to see the order forms. Otherwise, it's personal preference. I've got a weird flyer fetish b/c they're something I can collect and don't take up a lot of real estate (everyone knows, I had a mean collection before all of this Cave flyer masturbation started).

ESPGaluda II:
http://www.gamengai.com/img/pcbs/espgaludaii.jpg
Plus the manual you can barely see and a wire thingy for the other thingy
screw driver, carpet, and all that jazz not included.

There are two kinds of Galuda II poster
The original is 2 meters in length and features this image. The other is basically the top half only of that poster.

The contents of the Progear kit are debated. Most seem to favor the idea that the manga flyer was included w/ the kit, but I've seen nobody bet their house on it.

The Mushitama stuff is all part of the kit. They even include a sheet telling you "this is everything that comes in a kit", with a long checklist. Sorry you didn't get this with your new kit, but that does not negate the facts. The fliers in the Mushitama kit are from Oct 2005, so they are definitely not something new.

Posters are freebies as long as they last, not part of the kit. That's why PCB shops can say they have a "brand new boxed kit" for sale even if there is no poster. You could never claim that if it was missing a real part of the kit, like the POP. And some games never came with a poster when first released anyway (Ibara Black Label). And as a final piece of evidence, there is no poster on the Mushihimetama checklist of things that come with the kit.

Yet some (Fujita) will go out of their way to tell you there's no poster.

So what if it's on the kit order sheet?

They still sell the "complete" kit without the poster, for the same price.
Again, they don't do that if the POP is missing. Posters are an add-on, they're not a core part of the kit.
So what if it's on the kit order sheet?
Posters are included in the first runs of the recent Cave games. I guess if you want, you could say it's a "first run" part of the kit. But since they still keep selling the "complete" kit after the posters run out, I don't see how they could be considered as much a part of the kit as something like the instructions or the POP.

If you like the posters, collect them and be happy.

There's an optional poster for Mushi 1.5 that you haven't listed. Of course, EOJ's post pretty much clarifies all of the poster issues, but you may want to include it in the list for consistency.

@brumma, yeah, we should add the optional poster to the Futari kit.

Also, PS doesn't have a "monochrome copy" instructions, it's just monochrome. The only one that's a photocopy is Mushihime-sama.
And under IBL the Instruction strip is said to be "poor quality glossy paper". That may be the case, but for consistency we should just write "thin glossy paper - no sticker backing", as it's exactly the same quality as Pink Sweets and Mushihime-sama Futari. Also, it should be noted IBL comes with an IBL sticker on the box.
