Best time to play SHMUPs?

For me it's any time a couple hours after I wake up, with a bottle of coke to keep my eyes open.

If I play really late at night, or too early in the morning, I can't concentrate.

On my old schedule (up at 10AM, to bed at 3AM), a few hours before bed was best. Morning was a joke. Now that I'm acting like a normal person (in bed a bit after 12:00, up at 7:30 or so) I've been playing pretty well in the mornings AND evenings.

Only on the late night night do I play my best. Too much glair from the sun in the morning. And plus, in the evening is really when I have time to actually sit down and play.

Another vote for morning/soon after waking. I usually play at night, but I seem to do better and get into the swing of things faster if I play soon after I wake up.

When I wake up I'm all hyped and ready to go. I've got 8 hours worth of sleep to power me.

If I don't get a good run by noon, I'm not going to.
