NESRGB/XRGB-Mini to VGA cable?

Post by bobrocks95 »

Retro-Access made all of my custom VGA cables, but appears to be having a bit of a crisis at the moment.

I just got an NESRGB Famicom kit in but I still have no cable for it- are there any good options for the NESRGB 8-pin MiniDIN (same as the input on the front of the Framemeister) to a VGA/DB15 output?

I saw a small dongle from Ambery.com but the pinout is way off and for Famicom I'm not sure how much I can customize it.

I also saw a HAS adapter that looked like it had a miniDIN female and VGA male. I didn't see pinouts listed though.

Anyone else making custom RGB cables at all?

I didn't know 8-pin mods were a thing but if the mod comes from Japan then makes some sense.

I see an 8-pin to VGA cable for sale on US eBay right now for a lolzy $80 + $10.20 shipping. Description says it was made by Micomsoft for SELECTY 21 Analog RGB Selector directly to XRGB-Mini FRAMEMEISTER. So maybe you could find it for 10x less on Japanese Mercari or Yahoo! Auctions.

I see Retro-Access does have a page of 8-pin cables for Framemeister and only the SCART one is in stock. Would be a shame to 2 cable chain with SCART to VGA but such cables exist.

I don't have the patience to make custom cables nor do I like soldering but I'd think some people here would. Chipnetics and maxtherabbit sell SNES and PlayStation to VGA multiouts. I don't want to speak for them but maybe this is up their alley.

I'm trying to poke around and see if I can find anyone on forums or anything who's built a few of Jeff Chen's VGA adapters. I could make them myself but I'm not looking for another soldering project for a long time and you always have to buy parts for like 3+ of them when I only need one of each.

Maxtherabbit, I forget what consoles you offer but if we say your name enough times to summon you, let me know what you cover.
