I know, I was being melodramatic.Icarus wrote:Nah, I'd doubt J2D would shred up a Ketsui poster unless it was already damaged, spare or fake. Which reminds me of Mode7's April Fools joke on the old Gamespy forums. ^_-Dylan1CC wrote:All that rare poster value down the drain. That is some hardcore hatin.'

What's not cool about Ketsui is that unless you make it into the highscore, your score is gone and invisible the moment you die. It's gone in the continue screen, in the game over screen, and there's no password
So you get to choose between
- not living in Japan, and not having Ketsui
- living in Japan, and only seeing your score when you make top 5, yeah right.
Am I missing something obvious :\

Most Cave shmups are like this. I've always found it odd that games which are meant to be played for score don't show you your score at the end. What if two sucky players want to compete? They won't know who won! Or even if two good players wnat to compete and the scoreboard is filled up with great scores, same problem. I can't imagine why Cave would want to keep this glitch in their games.bpe wrote:What's not cool about Ketsui is that unless you make it into the highscore, your score is gone and invisible the moment you die. Not if you are playing DDP DOJ on PS2 (saves your highscores). So for Ketsui and DDP PCB's I never had a problem with beating the default high scores. But for DDPDOJ, I hate that it never tells me what my score was if I don't break any of my old records.iatneH wrote:But... if you keep a chain, you can break the default #1 high score about 40 seconds into the first level or something.

Yeah, I was referring to the Ketsui PCB...
I suppose it hasn't bothered me since I mostly just care about the maximum score. But there aren't really any unlockables on the PS2 Cave games are there? Can't you just delete the save file every once in a while (and then re-save your screen/control settings)?

The problem is playing at the arcades surrounded by guys who finish the loops for breakfast. I try to get by with a quick glance now and then, but even then the best I could submit to the highscore thread would be "uhmm, something like 45 million and something". The attract replay /demonstration shows the score as it goes up in the replay itself, so that doesn't help
Yep now that you mentioned it, since it's all about score, this is simply a huge design flaw. Doh.
