I recently found one called the Superhandy Lift Stacker & Pallet Dolly for $369 with free shipping and decided to take a chance on it. It came in after about 4 days and I must say it appears to be of extremely high quality, and it worked absolutely perfectly for my use case, which was moving around a WEGA 36" HS420 HD CRT and lifting it onto my rolling work table. I rarely get excited about products like this but it worked so well and the price was so much better than everything else similar that I could find that I wanted to share it in case anyone else is struggling to deal with heavy equipment at home or work. It uses a ratcheting mechanical crank that pulls on a high strength poly rope to raise and lower the platform (which BTW is removable if you want to use the forks to lift pallets), is rated for lifting up to 330lbs, and has an easy to operate locking brake system to make sure it doesnt roll on you when placing or removing a load. Note that when fully lowered, you will still need either a standard dolly or someone to give you a hand to place the unit onto the lift as the plate rests about 2.5"-3" above the floor.
A couple days ago I used it to raise the aforementioned 230lb HD Trinitron WEGA onto my ~38" work table and it worked fantastically for that purpose. Despite being a mechanical crank, it was quite easy to lift the beast, lock the brakes on the lift and the table, and slide the set onto the table. I was quite impressed and can think of quite a few more uses for it around my home than just CRT logistics. Anyways, enough gushing, heres a few pictures I took while moving the HS for anyone interested in such a device.
