The tube seems to work alright although I'm sure it could do with some cleaning and it does smell a bit when on for extended periods of time, so I'm thinking it's either 40 year dust on the tube warming up or something more serious. I haven't put it through it's paces that much because I can't figure out how to get rid of the CHSET text. I've tried using an Atari and SNES. I've used both connected directly through RF, the SNES via its RF port with a composite cable that I adapted into an RF Cable with an adapter. I've also used an old beta player I had as an RF modular using a composite signal, or just using it as a pass through to see if that changed anything. Unfortunately I'm unable to get rid of the text, I tried playing around with my Sony CLIÈ using it as a remote but the buttons on there did not make it disappear but it only has the basics. I'm thinking maybe there's something about RF I don't understand and that the TV isn't getting a strong enough signal so it thinks it's still searching for one. But I've used similar methods in the past and have had success. I'd really like to give this tube some use, but I'm scratching my head over what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated!
