Still haven't been able to figure out how to buy DLC on the Japanese Xbox store or whatever the hell it's called. It hates my Japanese card and stuff. I guess they just don't want my money. Fuck digital games.
Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
As if this isn't enough as to think 2024 will be a shitty year...
Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
This is actually so sad, a lot of shmups and JP titles are extremely expensive physically.
Not just cave titles, which are all still up, but some more overlooked titles like ones by Triangle Service for example.
I hope Microsoft reverses course, like Sony did with the PS3

Guwange doesn't even have a physical release, right? I need to figure out how to buy that.

It's going to be pretty much anything on this list that will be going away: https://www.trueachievements.com/not-ba ... ible/games
As for digital only titles, you can use this list and these filters to get that:
https://www.trueachievements.com/games.aspx
Filter Platform as Xbox 360 (no back compat), Availability as Listed Only, and Dist. type as Digital only

Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
Rgh has been the way to go for ages, i don't think it really matters what goes offline for the 360 at this point
Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
I don't think it's known just yet however if after 2024, buying a game like this on Xbox One/Series consoles will actually show up on your downloads list on 360 as well. I guess we'll find out when the time comes.
Yes, much like the Wii we can at least rest easy knowing there are alternative methods to get games that are no longer available for the 360. That said, not everyone wants to go that route, but at least it's there.
Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
Well according to this page they put out, even after the shutdown, if the game is backwards compatible and purchased on the webstore or Xbox one/Series X, it will appear in your downloads on your Xbox 360.Austin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 1:52 pmI don't think it's known just yet however if after 2024, buying a game like this on Xbox One/Series consoles will actually show up on your downloads list on 360 as well. Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
Now that this closure is going to happen very soon (and I have a new less-shitty bank and card), I will probably start looking into buying stuff while I still can. Hopefully it accepts my new card. What all is worth getting that isn't available on newer hardware or PC (no, I do not mean MAME) aside from Saidaioujou and Mushihimesama Futari (and its Black Label DLC), and is there anything that is on newer hardware or PC (no, I still do not mean MAME) but is still better on 360? I am not planning on buying an Xbox Series at this time, or ever, but yeah.
Someone will probably say "just wait until the store closes and then steal it because nobody cares", but I'd much rather not, not just because of the moral implications but because I'm also too lazy to want to bother with getting that stuff working, and I'm pretty sure CAVE is or at least was on the verge of bankruptcy and needs cash, although I'm not sure how much cash they'd get from this.

So what do you guys think are the must own games before this marketplace shuts down?

Yep, it's back!cfx wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 12:08 pm I like Omega Five but I don't know if anyone else does lol. It was delisted for a long time but came back and was still available last time I checked though that's been a while. I think it's compatible with Series S/X but otherwise isn't available anywhere else that I know of.

Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
Steven, I suggest you might want to wait until either, on these dates, June 18, 2024, and also July 16, 2024, as they will permanently price drop more X360 games that aren't BC. Nothing specific, but I guess we'll wait and see what titles gets price drops. (Nothing's been said about DLC's though.)
There's already a first list of permanent price drops, but none of them are STG specific that I've looked into so far. (Outside of Eschatos and Ginga Force being 1K Yen each digitally at current on the JP Xbox 360 store.)

Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
I'm not sure that any of these are great and I bet at least a third of my list will be C territory games at best, but I ended up buying a lot of what's currently on sale. Most of it wasn't even on my radar until the sale, but hopefully there's some surprises here (Only the two Atari games that I had been considering checking out after Atari SA's recent success with their Recharged line of remakes and Space Invaders IG were actually on my want list).
-Dogfight 1942
-Enemy Front
-Geon: Emotions
-Panzer General
-Risk
-Star Raiders
-Worms: Revolution (too bad all the DLC was delisted years ago)
-Worms: Ultimate Mayhem
-WRC 5 (a far cry from the XB1/PS4 counterpart I'm sure, but it's cheap and I'm a WRC fan so it might be fun to see the last gen version of this cross-gen game)
-Yar's Revenge
-Zombie Driver HD
Hopefully even better stuff awaits in the next two waves of sales additions, like RayStorm HD (although I'm probably the only 360 owner here that doesn't already have that one, lol).

Judging by the inclusion of Space Invaders: Infinity Gene which is on the backwards compatibility list, it doesn't seem to be limited to just non BC titles (even though I'm not sure if there's any other BC games in wave 1). So even Xbox One/Series owners that no longer have a 360 might get some deals even though those games aren't slated to disappear from sale this summer.NeoStrayCat wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 3:29 pm Steven, I suggest you might want to wait until either, on these dates, June 18, 2024, and also July 16, 2024, as they will permanently price drop more X360 games that aren't BC.

Shooting Love 200X (Trizeal and Exzeal) is digital-only outside of Japan, worth picking up for anyone who hasn't yet.

Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
Also digital only in the US region too. Anyways, the 2nd wave of non-BC (unless otherwise) X360 permanent price drops have gone live. -> https://www.trueachievements.com/news/n ... ale-wave-2
However, unless I missed something, 1942: Joint Strike seems to be the only STG here on this 2nd wave list. Not sure if any of the JP (or Asia region) X360 digital "Games On Demand" titles have been given permanent price drops, but I'll check. (Doubtful if any got perma price drops, unless maybe in the 3rd/final list? Who knows...)

Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
Hm. Sounds like I will have to set up every single one of my 360s one last time, just to run every single game, to get every game patched. What a nightmare.

Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
Why? Just download them as needed. Online services aren't disappearing, just the ability to make purchases from the 360 storefront.
Furthermore, for the first several years of the system's life patches were strictly limited in size and stored in a temporary cache dedicated to patches. As new patches are downloaded the older ones are pushed out of the cache (hence why through the years you'll see someone express surprise online that Game A seemingly got a new patch many years after release when they revisited it on the same 360 after a long time away from the game, when in reality the patch just had got deleted out of their 360's cache to make room for a different game's patch and thus had to be redownloaded).
I'm not sure quite when that changed with size limits eliminated and the patches being stored to the 360's hard drive (2009 or thereabouts), but unless you have a really small library of older 360 games, you'd really be wasting your time trying to get them all patched.
It's an exercise worth doing someday for newer 360 content when the end truly approaches, but right now I think you'd just be wasting your time.

Ah thank you I remember now. Only the last ten games you had launched were patched or something. I mean only their respective patch remained.

Some other suggestions from people (Omega Five, Splosion Man) have been Xbox One backwards compatible titles, so they won't be going away.
I think I still have some CAVE DLC to get, I'm not sure... Will have to take a close look.
EDIT: For those looking, big list here of some physical/digital releases that are probably way cheaper to buy now - viewtopic.php?t=58787
And a google doc I made a while back on CAVE shooter ports- little outdated but maybe someone will find it helpful- https://docs.google.com/document/d/132- ... sp=sharing
EDIT2: Some disc releases are already skyrocketing in price. Raiden Fighters Aces and Otomedius Excellent might be worth picking up if they're available in the on-demand section. I never figured out for sure if Otomedius Gorgeous is region-locked or not...

Re: Xbox 360 Store to close July 2024
Raiden Fighters Aces on the 360 came from a publisher that I think went defunct years ago. Not sure if it ever had a Games on Demand release (a lot of retail 360 releases from that era never did), but if it did it's long since been delisted (and no doubt contributed to it being passed over by Microsoft's backwards compatibility team).
I hope Microsoft straightens out more of the sales nonsense. While several problems have been rectified, multiple games are having issues. Some highlights include that nobody has gotten Space Invaders IG for $1.50 even though it was from the first wave of sales that went live a month or more ago (One of the rare BC titles in these sales, perhaps causing an issue with a pricing mismatch since it remains the full $10 on the XB1/Series store). Burnout 3 (an Xbox Original) remains the full $10 instead of the announced $1. And Need for Speed Undercover is supposed to be on sale for $2 but simply vanished and hasn't returned (a few others did similarly, but were later relisted at the correct price).
And while I didn't check (I'm up for waiting and hopefully getting it for $1.50 after enjoying the demo), I saw at least one person that also couldn't buy Space Invaders IG on the modern Xbox store at the full $10 price as well. If accurate, that furthers the theory that the price mismatch is the root cause of why it's not purchasable at the moment (Although I was able to buy Bionic Commando 2 Rearmed last week on XB1 when it was on sale on the newer storefront for $3 while it was $15 on the 360 store prior to it joining the 360 sale this week for $1, so perhaps that theory is a dead end).
I suspect I won't be able to buy it until July 29th, when hopefully the ending of the 360 store will restore the ability to purchase it on the newer storefront (albeit for $8.50 more than it's supposed to be on the 360 store).

Damn didn't see it before, I was thinking of buying a new xbox 360 to play with a friend this summer, do you know if the online mode of some games will work after that?

Raiden Fighters Aces' digital version has since been delisted ages back. Both its JP and English versions.

Not only that, but its DLC (for example: Otomedius Gorgeous), even the free ones, requires a JP Xbox 360 to download them. Trying to use your JP X360 account on either a US or PAL region X360 to even download the free DLC catalogs, for example, will not work, I've already tried, lol. (Not sure if it'll count after you already "purchased" them to even re-DL them on a US or PAL region X360, cause I've yet to try that, but I'll have to report back on that, chances are, it'll still probably be region/hardware locked.)Bear78 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 7:27 pmIt's region locked according to this: viewtopic.php?t=23501bobrocks95 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 12:18 am I never figured out for sure if Otomedius Gorgeous is region-locked or not...
