Is it possible to revive a broken Deamcast that only gives you power through orange LED by installing the MODE?
I was going to send mine to a handy man so he could install a new lithium battery housing to make replacing a new one easy. He is going to replace the caps while he's at it. From there either I would have him install a new power supply OR I'll install the solderless DreamPSU
After these 3 things are done, I'm modding my DC with the MODE. But all this hinges on one thing, can I install the MODE on a DC with a dead optical drive that turns on?

Does it display anything?
If so, probably yes: we're totally just skirting around the drive issues.
If no probably not: there's more problems, maybe even critical ones.
Price wise... Easier to gamble on gdemu than mode?

When you say "only gives power through orange LED" are you saying there's no display, no fan spinning, no GD-ROM drive spinning?
If this is the case -- I would NOT expect replacing the GD-ROM drive with a MODE to fix your system (although I have seen drive motor failures cause some of these symptoms, based on the info provided, this cannot be concluded).
