Andro Dunos 2 MVS standalone?

Post by shmupsrocks »

What's up with this game? It looks like the MVS version is only available along with the PS4 or Switch version?

There is no MVS version, it's a PC game created using shmup creator or whatever it was called. It can't run natively on a neo geo without a massive porting job from scratch, and even the source ports on modern consoles are kinda crap :D

From the store page selling the "mvs edition":
Reproduction of an empty MVS cartridge used as a box for the game.

How weird. There's a photo of the MVS kit box and the MVS cartridge...

Yes and it explicitly says "Reproduction of an empty MVS cartridge used as a box for the game."

It can't get any lamer, can it? The game is not even a real Andro Dunos nor a Visco production.

I wouldn't say it's lame. It's actually one of the top STGs on Steam. In fact AD2 blows AD out of the water (even if its not the same dev). Sorry if that rustles any jimmies. Just my opinion of course. 8)

Not the game, the release and the publisher. What seems to be a really cool game -likely the best from Picorinne-, at least in its Windows form, has been published in the silliest possible way, by plastering a totally unrelated name on it by a Western company which thinks for some reason that using the IPs they bought like this serves some purpose other than perverting, not one, but two pieces. And then they add an empty cartridge case of an unrelated system as the special bonus. Not to mention how they ruined the console ports.

-And the original AD is cool as well, maybe you need to check again.-

The PS4 version of AD2 seems alright; I've not seen the godawful framerate, loading, or input lag issues reported on Dreamcast and 3DS. No idea how it stacks up to the PC version, but from a quick glance at videos, I'm not sure how it differs... have they Shat The Bed™ on me, gents? I love a good Version Deathmatch. I've enjoyed it a lot.

No comment on the MVS shell antics or whatever, sounds a bit bent.

I played it primarily on Switch, and the performance was fine. I was able to get the 1CC with no complaints. I think it was just the Dreamcast and 3DS versions that came up lacking, which is a shame, but at least the primary console and PC ports came out ok.
