Looking for a quality male SCART to BNC cable

Post by Rock Man »

I'm already aware of this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/192693867212?h ... R77fpa-XYg

Any other good ones out there you guys could recommend? Having issues with my gscartw and I think I narrowed it down to the SCART to BNC cable I'm using for my PVM.

Edit: Found these

https://retro-access.com/search?q=male+ ... +bnc+cable

What's a SCART cable builder?

Voultar's SCART>BNC adapter is great.

Compact, and the female RCA plugs make it easy to run a standard set of RCA cables to a proper stereo system (hopefully nobody would ever actually use the speaker on a PVM)

I think this is the seller I got mine from on ebay, they have one left: https://www.ebay.com/itm/393029476548

Looks promising, why wouldn't we want to use the speaker on the PVM?

It's a low wattage, cheap, mono speaker. No dynamic range

Paired with one of the best picture tubes made by man.

So video is 10/10, sound is 1/10. You gotta have some kind of external sound solution. Receiver+bookshelf speakers, powered bookshelf speakers, or even just headphone amp+headphones. Or small PC speakers will do in a jam.

Bought it.

I'm thinking about grabbing some bnc cables from either monoprice or retro access, but where would you get the male to male SCART cable?

You’re not hooking up console scart cables directly to it?

I have some 6ft BNC cables I’m trying to sell by the way

Using a gscartsw switcher, definitely going to need a quality male to male. Just might take you up on that offer.

I would look at used listings eBay out of Europe. Look for a videophile cable from 2001

Was thinking about grabbing a SCART coupler to go with this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/393029476548

Then add a BNC Mohawk cable. Can anyone attest to the quality of said coupler?

Sucks they didn't include a picture of what it is. It might be a short cable, or it might be more of a coupler/gender changer looking thing.

Either way, the fact that it would be a short run would reduce the chance of any sort of interference getting into the signal.

So it should work fine, based on my limited understanding of how this stuff works.

If it uses really thin wiring, though, I think there's a chance that could cause an impedance mismatch. But I'm really out of my knowledge wheel house here, so you'd have to get more input from somebody else on that, somebody who knows more about voltage and analog electronics. I've only seen an impedance mismatch one time when I made a crappy hand-made VGA adapter from some low quality cables and used it in series with a high quality thick VGA cable, which caused overly bright picture.

All that to say: I think you can just buy it and it will most likely work well. It absolutely should at that price. So you can return it if it doesn't get you the desired results.

If you don't mind the price, there's not a lot to think over.

That's why I was afraid of saying too much on that last post, lol.

What I was basically trying to say is "It'll almost definitely work great, but there's small chance it might not"
