This have become more or less a jungle for me. I want to play DVD movies on my Wii. Apparently it was possible in the past to play DVD on early Wii models with home brew. Sometimes Nintendo removed tjos feature from their Wii consoles.
The documentation on which models that can play DVDs are scarce and conflicting. Does anyone know which revisions can play DVDs? I have a PAL revision 50 but it doesn’t seem to play DVDs.
Thanks for some help on this.
DVD playback on Wii
Re: DVD playback on Wii
All motherboards should be able to, what matters for reading discs is the disc drive revision, I think from the D3 revision from 2008 on wards they won't be able to read common discs.
Newer consoles comes with te newer discs revisions as expected unless someone swapped the disc drive for any reason.
You can read the DVD Video ISOs through USB in any model.
